View Full Version : Camber with HR springs?

I installed HR springs marketed as "sport" springs for 330 with factory performance package last year. I had the alignment checked after installing the springs and they said it was ok, but there is a noticeable (not drastic) camber in the front now. Is it possible I need to install a camber kit? Besides accelerated wear on the inside edge of the tires, what is the potential impact of increased camber?

These.

Extra camber is from lowering the car.

When you got it aligned when first installed the springs probably were not settled.

Depending on the chamber, you'll really not see wear on the inside. Toe will effect your wear.

I run -2.3 chamber at zero toe and have more outside wear than inside.

Of course these are my track tires but still there is no inside wear. My daily driver tires have been wearing fine

Hmmm, I recall them saying it's HIGHLY recommended not to run the sport springs in the std suspension, that you should get uprated shocks/struts too.

I'll have to check it out, but I don't recall that requirement. I installed them along with brand new OEM struts, I would've gone aftermarket if I'd known.... but that doesn't mean I didn't misunderstand the requirements. They ended up being .75" drop up front and .5" or so in the rear.

Looks like I should've upgraded my struts. I'm at the tire shop now and I have cupping on the inside tread of both front tires. That indicates struts right?

My tires only have 25k on then and they're practically toast, I'm not happy about it. The other weird thing is my right rear has abnormal wear on the inside edge of the tire right at the junction of the tread and sidewall. Not sure what caused that.

Can anyone recommend a certain strut that will work well in my application? No track use, only daily driving, but need to be valved for lowering springs. ECS has Koni orange str.t kits that are reasonably priced?

Koni orange have a good rep.

Inside wear is a factor or toe, not as much shocks

It's cupping though, not regular wear. The rears have bad inside edge wear but not cupping. These tires only have 20-25k on them, they'd be fine if not for the abnormal wear.

Cupping is usually always from toe (I have done hundreds of alignments). You could also have worn suspension components causing your toe to go out during acceleration or braking. Your camber with sport springs on oem shocks shouldn't be enough to hurt anything. You really should upgrade your shocks for lowering springs, but I wouldn't worry about your camber.

Around 25k miles is normal for many... Myself included. I may get 30k if I'm super good about rotating.

If you go with camber plates, Ground Control Street is the way to go. Koni Orange should be good for struts.
