I figured this deserved its own thread because this is by far the best finish I've ever done, and surprised myself along with many others.

To give you an overview, this is an annual event where multiple regions around Ohio and surrounding states come to compete. The competition is probably the best you're going to find for a "local" event without going to a SCCA Tour/Match/ProSolo or Nationals.

The morning is a regular Points Event, which I ended up placing 1st in RTR by beating a Scion FRS by 0.440 seconds on my final run (We were going back and forth all morning). I ended up #11/136 in PAX.

The afternoon is called the Governors Cup. It starts with the top 64 drivers determined by AM PAX runs. Each driver gets 1 run, and the field is then narrowed down to the Top 32 drivers by that single run PAX. Those 32 drivers then run again, and that field is narrowed down to the Sweet 16 by PAX.

This is where the shootout bracket begins. The final 16 drivers then draw numbers to determine who they will run against. First round I had to run against a 2012 Subaru WRX running in RTA. He PAXed 7th during the 32 runs.

I ended up winning against him by 0.004. That tells you how close this shootout bracket is. I moved to Elite 8

I ended up then running against a 2004 Subaru WRX STi running in STU. He PAXed 5th IIRC in the 32 runs, where I PAXed 11th. I ended up winning against the STi even with a slower time than previous run. I don't know what the difference was on this, but it had to be close. I advanced to Final 4.

I had to run against a 2005 Porsche GT3 running in SS. He PAXed 2nd in the 32 runs. I had to basically go balls to the wall to try and catch up, and ultimately coned. Even if my run was clean, I would of lost to him by 0.236 seconds.

I ended up in 4th out of 136 drivers, which is by far the highest talent field I've competed against. The car was just awesome, dropped pressures way below than what I ran before and the car stuck like glue.

Here are videos of all runs. Feel free to comment and criticize.

Good shit bro!

I saw another video from that course of an STI coning on that jump. Pretty gnarly track. Lots of elevation change for an auto-x LOL.

From a GS3, this was sent.

You mean this one?

LOL, I took that shot...and a bunch more very similar type shots.

We call that section the wump. It screws the whole car up, as the suspension loads...then unloads over the hump, and loads back up again. On the final video, you can here me get on the gas as I go over the hump, a section then a loud screech as the tires grip. Pretty sure the rear tires were in the air or fairly close.

The course DESIGN wasn't fairly complicated, but how it played out with the elevations changes made it hell. So many off-camber corners where the car just wanted to track out.

Thanks all for your comments

Nice driving! I would love to get some input on some autocross I did yesterday, I'm fairly new to it. What should I work on? Also, do you find the side mounted camera to be your preferred method of capture? I tried in car and was somewhat disappointed, the below video is mounted to the roof.

Where's the link to the video of the Subaru crunching cones on the jump?

I'm pissed now.

If I didn't cone my final 4 run, I would of advanced to the finals by 0.084 seconds.

It is a what-if game. But I'm such a dummy for hitting a cone.

Ugh

I'll find the subie run

Negative. My car isn't at full prep and IMO I got lucky with the course design. It has been a going trend that the twins kick my ass in RTR. The AS Pax kills me (with exception to this time)

I think I'm going to try and find a codriver for tours and nationals next year. That'll at least give me exposure to those events while I save money for an eventual E82 STX build.

I missed reg for the Toledo Pro solo and I'm not going to be in town for Wilmington :(

Good luck against Andrew P. He's been flying in STX with his FRS. He just threw rivals on his car from back ordered RS3s and he likes them even more.

Best part I love about the Ohio region are the amount of National Level drivers we have:
