I'm looking for a winter snow tire/wheel package for my '05 ZHP. Found a local set on Craigslist on 16" BMW rims tire size 205/55/16- owner believes the wheels were original equip on an '05 3 series; he used them on his 2010 328xi coupe - tire size on his coupe is 225/40/18.

Pulled my rear off and the wheel would not fit. However, I'm new to the wheel shim game so I'm wondering if I missed the boat and just need wider shims to get the rim off the brake caliper? Sorry newbie question on wheel shimming/etc. It also looked like the bolt pattern was off but I think that could have been from not being able to seat the rim on the rotor. I can't imagine BMW would have a different bolt pattern in the various 3-series models.

Here is the posting:

Not worried about the partially damaged rim - can get that repaired for little cost. $275 is an outstanding price so I want to move on this quickly if some shims will fix the fit up.

I'm not sure, but tirerack.com has a good fitment site.

a ZHP cannot fit 16" wheels of any kind, 17" minimum. Guy probably had a 325 which has smaller brakes

There are some 16" rims that will fit...

The most popular one are the Sport Edition A7's from tire rack.

I used Tire Rack recently to replace the tires/wheels on my daughters 2006 BMW 325i with Sport Package. They were very helpful and I got a great deal on a set of "closeout" 16 inch wheels with tires mounted.

Just PM'd you but the cost to ship to MPLS will likely be more than I'm looking to spend.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I've been looking at Tire Rack but was hoping someone had experience with those specific BMW wheels to see if shimming would work.
