Hey Socal and mafia family who may be in town. Gary (wolfn8tr) is coming by my house this weekend to do extensive maintenance work on my car. VANOS, fan delete, Dinan Throttle body, hoses, other stuff. William (wsmeyer) is also going to stop by. I'm renting a fender roller from a local on e46f.c and we will roll fenders too. William will be bringing his coding expertise. Please feel free to stop by if you're in the area either this Sat or Sun, as we'll be working both days I'm sure. Post up here if you are so we know to expect you. Cityjohn, you in too?

Dammit, I wish I was going to be down there!! We are currently heading South from Alaska, but we aren't going down to CA this trip, just heading straight back to Washington... So, I won't be down that way until the end of the month or so. I'll miss you guys this time, but hoping to hang out for a day when I do get down there!

Have a good weekend, and Gary, feel free to "misplace" that Dinan TB into the mail to Jupiter, FL.... :shifty

if it's on sunday, i can't go. i'm going to that huge ass BBQ that is being held near my area.

Hieu, Manhattan Beach. My address is in the members only section but I'll PM you. We'll be there all day Saturday (with William and John coming by around 2 ish). That's when we'll roll the fenders. We'll also be there Sunday morning working.

Hey all!

I may swing by for a little bit - the weekends have been pretty busy for us lately; lots of appointments and extracurricular activities... but if I can swing it, I'll be there!

That's great Kevin! Gary is spending the night so we will start Sat. morn. I think William, John are coming around 2 ish. Also Hieu is coming by Sat afternoon around that time. We'll also likely be doing some stuff Sun.

Tiffany and I have an appointment for a wedding venue at 2 on Saturday, so I think I'd be heading up afterward if I can swing it. Will you guys be going late into the afternoon? I have some minor maintenance issues to tackle too (I have a brake wear sensor issue that I want to chase down, and also a mysterious leak in the windshield washer system)...

WOLFN8TR
08-14-2013, 10:12 AM
Sounds like the grommet in the bottom of the tank. Mine was leaking a year ago and I Teflon taped that sucker and it hasn't leaked since. Funny thing is I almost added one to Johns parts order the other day beings they are cheap. It takes like 10 minutes to fix.

LOL, both. Gary and I will start early and work late. Hieu is coming around 11-ish. John around 2-ish. William 2-ish. Kevin afternoon-ish.

Beers/soft drinks in the fridge, ready. Chips, munchies here. Will likely order a pizza at some point.

William, you still bringing your coding computer?

I had my laptop all setup for the ZHP with a black cable but I really want to get it to work work a silver cable that (supposedly) can talk to my E70 X5 as well. If anybody know how to set that up I'm all ears.

If not, tomorrow night I'll just re-install everything the way it was for use with E46's.

Just kidding, everyone was doing something... Gary is head mechanic and William was cool enough to stop by and chip in. Can't not use that engineering brain power when it's there. I'm chief assistant. :biggrin As far as gloves, this is LA, you can't have dirty hands here. lol

Poker pot- SB mod?

Gary has a Sprint Booster but it's not hooked up to the panel (our now famous sport button mod). He has the 4 wire version so William is going to take a look at doing the soldering.

As far as poker, $20 buy-in, max $2 bet, so usually your night should be somewhere in the +/- $40 range on average. I ended on the UP side around $10-ish (didn't really count it as the host).

Whew! All that work (VANOS, Dinan Throttle Body, Fan Delete, Disa, Spark Plugs) and it started up first time! Gary was awesome and William really helped out a ton. Hieu did my BSW speakers and changed out the interior parts. Hieu, it sounds great. The issue was the loose battery connector while we were working. (Oh, and, LOL Bruce! Thanks again for your help.)

Tomorrow will be fender rolling, oil change, cooling system, and front bumper/splitter work.

Some pics:
William's, Hieu's, Gary's, then my car (way in front, hard to see) in my driveway.

Today a bunch of misc. stuff... decided not to do my cooling system. Gary and I again worked on cars all day, and William and Kevin stopped by. We did an oil change on my car, plus fixed the splitters and minor front bumper issues. William coded a few things, and Kevin got his oil changed. We tried to roll fenders but the roller was broken. (Jon, I agree. Hieu's car is awesome, he should def post moar pics). A few pics from today:

In order, Kevin's, Gary's, William's, mine (can't see).

They don't need to be Rando. I have an open invite on a local forum for young guys to stop by if they need a hand or just a spot to work on their cars. Probably about once a month someone takes me up on the offer, you meet a lot of interesting folks that way and many become repeat visitors. And it's cool that once you teach them how to do something, they always try to pay it forward.
