I used to feel like that also, then this little kitten started to live in my e30 that was on jackstands forever and has become a part of the family now. You can train them to obey rules but can't teach them tricks, although my cat responds to "hey" with a "hey" sound. Oh, and the keep the squirrel, rodent, moles, and other unwanted animals away frm your yard and house.
I have a cat that fetches bottle caps when I shoot them. Drops em right at my feet and waits for me to shoot again. Got another one outside that knows the sound of the Bimmer and waits by the end of the driveway for me to come home.... just sayin'...
Oh and there's the other one in my Avatar, he can handle a machine gun pretty good...

Yeah....but I never said I was sane. I got everything prepped. Vice, soft jaw voce liners, Proto 24mm impact socket, compressor, hose, impact wrench, Hex sockets (for the Vanos Piston bolt), 32mm wrench for auto fan removal.....and all of the other basic sockets, needlenose plier type stuff. I have one spare/used VCG, and one spare vanos piston bolt. I just picked up a tube of Permatex.....
Everyone should have...
New...
1. Valve cover gasket (This comes with the spark plug well gaskets)
2. VANOS gasket
3. Plugs.....if you wanna do plugs (NGK BKR6EQUP)
4. Anti rattle kit...if doing this.
5. VANOS seals kit (required)
6. 15 grommets for Valve cover hold down bolts.
7. 2 Banjo bolt crush washers.
8. One qt of the oil of your choice.
9. 1 six pack of beer...hehe.
10. Spare clips, or plastic rivets...if desired.....if you think were gonna break them. Haven't really broken any of these.
Horney....back me up on this list. Punched it out in about 2 minutes....
Also.....I have room for about 20 gallons of oil...so If anyone wants to used the Motive Power extractor to do some oil changes....that would be ok as well. Just update the signup list with this needed maintenance.

Dane, I'm bringing disposable containers for draining the oil from the VANOS. Also I have a bunch of high absorbant matts to soak up any spilled oil. I have spare X-Acto knife for cutting the old seals out.
Also, I'll have a complete set of tools for the whole job.
I know I can breakdown an engine to the VANOS pretty quick. I used DR. Vanos so the Besian kit will be new to me but after the first one I know I'll be able to buzz through it.
I still think battery powerd drills with a socket adapter will be the fastest way to break 'em all down. we're not going to need a lot of torque on most of those bolts... I'm bringing mine with a spare battery pack.
This is going to be fun! I can't wait...

I'm still going to try to bring about 20lbs of fresh fish. It should be enough for everyone to get a good taste of. I'm thinking that it will probably be Mahi Mahi because that's what is in season. And that is a good thing because Mahi grills very nicely.

Kristen - If moar tents are needed, I have an extra 2 and 4 person dome tents that I can bring for you and anyone else to use. You'd just need a bed roll.
They are from my scouting days... and won't see much use anymore now that the family is growing... so no issues leaving a tent at DWs until Sunday or the next time I see him after the meet.

If it were my car, I'd encourage you to imagine you're on a first date with my only-child daughter (I don't really have one of those): it's barely a test drive - you can look, and if you have to touch, okay, but only respectfully, in broad daylight, and in zero-consequence zones.

Agreed, I'm really surprised it hasn't happened yet; specially with the way people drive around my area. Must be due to my defensive driving. I'm sure that if I stop driving defensively and staying away from hazardous drivers it would have happened a long time ago.

For those of you who've never been in or driven a ZHP, you're not in for an amazing, unbelievable, earth-shattering, "I'll have what she's having," type of experience. Granted, it's a very special car. Perhaps the most special ever. The ZHP is effective, to me, in its subtlety.

You know, not for nothing, but the 10hp makes a bit of a difference. One of the review magazines got 5.6 seconds to 60 out of this car; 3300 pounds and only 5.6 seconds from a pathetic 235hp? That's not frickin' bad at all. It's how the car pulls this feat off is what impresses me, along with how it can apparently stick to the corners better than some much more expensive cars. It's not the little things that impresses, it's how much more edge it has over its non ZHP counterparts.
And not that I'm saying non-ZHP's aren't anywhere near as good; they're all great being BMW 3series vehicles (all of which handle excellent). But the ZHP is just a tad better, kind of like how the E30 325is was just a tad bit better than the 325i was.

A smartphone will do the trick nicely if positioned correctly. We used an iPhone 4 as a reflective surface when we did mine.

That's funny you mention this because I did not have an inspection mirror with me today and resorted to using my iPhone camera to show me the Shark Injector LED. The problem was I couldn't notice the rapid flashing and used my watch instead to see the reflection. I had to exercise patience and lots of it to allow the process to continue. I was nervous that I would do something to fry my ECU....lots of nail biting...:biggrin

No problem Marcus. I think a session on this is a good thing. It will help others who are either thinking about doing this or have the Shark Injector (but did not try this yet). The key is to ensure you have a good battery charger hooked directly to the battery in the trunk charging at least 20amps so you have enough juice to do the process. :thumbsup

I will tell you that Saturday night at second street grill is going to be a blast. I will be there when done with Vanos. It'll be a good primer (like I need one) for Sunday vanos jobs.
I'm thinking Saturday is shaping up like this.
1. Cars and Pizza at Bellisimos....1030 to 1300/1400.
2. 2 hour drive through colonial parkway. John and I are testing out drive tomorrow.
3. That's puts us at 1600. We can all meet back at Bellisimos...then split up. People can do whatever. Go back to hotle and get ready for dinner, relax, go to outlets for some shopping, etc or come hang at my place to get Mtn's car right. I am confident with the extra hands..we can knock it out in 3.5 to 4 hours. Not rushing at all....first time quality is key here and one of my motto's. That would put us at 2nd Street Grill at 2000.
Lemme know if anyone has any better ideas or recommendations.

That ^^. I realize performance wise I'm not missing out on--The alcantara interior and up to date body control modules paired up with the zhp bumpers, CA's, 6spd and cams is what does it for me. non zhp's look rather pedestrian on the ouside and to low-key interior wise.
The ZHP IMO is a much better to live with Daily driver as a whole.

You know, not for nothing, but the 10hp makes a bit of a difference. One of the review magazines got 5.6 seconds to 60 out of this car; 3300 pounds and only 5.6 seconds from a pathetic 235hp? That's not frickin' bad at all. It's how the car pulls this feat off is what impresses me, along with how it can apparently stick to the corners better than some much more expensive cars. It's not the little things that impresses, it's how much more edge it has over its non ZHP counterparts.
And not that I'm saying non-ZHP's aren't anywhere near as good; they're all great being BMW 3series vehicles (all of which handle excellent). But the ZHP is just a tad better, kind of like how the E30 325is was just a tad bit better than the 325i was.
I'm sure my non zhp 330ci is down there at 5.4-6.0 to 60 mph. Look at this vid of my car against a e36 M3 (s50) with intake, exhaust, and a AA chip.
an e36 m3 s50B30 US spec does 0-60 in 5.6 seconds This particular M3 with it's mods should be doing about 5.3- 5.5. I wan't to run him again once he puts on some lightweight wheels and tires instead of the heavy 19's he was running that night. When we both started in 2nd gear i just pulled on him fairly hard.
I started in 3rd gear, notice how my car starts reeling him in towards the end just before I let of and break and he shifts into 5th gear.

Excuse the rattling when slowing down which was caused by a worn CA's (fixed) and out of balance worn tires (not yet fixed)
10 whp can be easily gained by shedding weight. since my car came without a sunroof -35 pounds and I've taken a few things out I've more then gained 10whp by shedding weight.
Mods wise on my car I only had, UUC transmission mounts, Clutch arm lever UUC delrin bushings, euro 3 tune and no secondary air pump in addition to some weight savings here and there.
rest assured thought my engine has 140k miles and still running strong! don't be afraid to beat on you M54b30's! (just shift before or at 6k more often then not)
if 330's came with a LSD from factory or if there was a cheap alternative I wouldn't even think of getting an e46 m3 or e36 m3 as a daily driver.
not even a brand new 335is comes with one... :(

BMW!! IDK, what their on. But they at least need to make a lsd available as an option across all their models!! i would gladly pay 1500 for an OEM installed LSD on a 335is!
hell It would make a base e90 328i much more appealing to me.
e30's were truly the golden age for BMW. LSD fest! For a while, no BMW that has rolled out of the factory since the e30 ages --besides the M's-- have been able to properly exit a corner at the limit of grip and with a grin on your face and take of properly without wasting all its power on one wheel.. Instead you get one wheel spin and and an insanely wobbly and uncontrollable POS dumbed down with tcs at corner exit.... FUUUUU BMW. LSD, cars have been proven to have better traction in the snow as well. Their ASC+T/DCS technology sucks in the snow and almost made me wreck my car this past winter. Yes, I drove with it off after that accident.
They claim ASC/DSC/TCS acts better or the same as an LSD. NOT. It just brakes individual wheels and slows you down even more then just spinning one wheel.
IMO, they are lying to us when they say "the ultimate driving machine" when non of their non M models have the option to get an lsd installed at the factory.

Test drive with Johnmadd today. Great route. Appreciate John for taking the time to take me through it.
Drive is about 100 miles.....~2 hours.
Johns Pride and joy. Had to let the e30 outta the stable today to exercise the legs a bit.

My e30 looks suck, but it rides good, lured dw into a 15mph 90degree corner at about 35mph or so with me sticking it with the tires squealing, woohoo fun, I love that turn.

Sweet! This is going to be a lot of fun. I haven't actually attended any kind of BMW, or any car club meet, that has had a drive planned.
I'm also looking into getting a bushel of blue crabs rather than fish. Right now, the price on fresh fish is a little steep and a bushel of crabs will go further with a crowd.

Not lured John boy. Used to take that turn 5 or 6 times a week when we lived over in Surry. I am keen to your wicked ways.

Just joking but if needed you could stop and catch up, I believe there will be a map of some kind. There is a gas station about an hour in and the about 30 minutes another and another gas station in about 20 minutes. There is also a welcome center before the Colonial Parkway. I can't confirm availability of restrooms use though.

Can you beleive its already JUNE!!! I'm leaving precisely a week from right now for a much needed week long vacation from the daily grind. Didn't really want to miss Thursday vball, but I've came to terms with it, lol. I have many of old friends to catch up with while in VA Thursday, Monday and Tuesday, and I'm just as excited to meet all of you! Im hoping for good weather and awesome memories :)
