So, how many of you Beast Coasters are interested in a weekend get-together?? It would naturally be a weekend because a lot of us would have to travel long distances to get to a designated place, but I'm sure we could make it an awesome weekend!

Anyone willing to host an awesome ZHP Mafia Beast Coast Gathering?? YES. Dane Wilson -- DW77!

UPDATED INFORMATION:

Location is Williamsburg, Virginia. PM me your cell phone number, and I will PM you my address.

Firm date for the 1st Annual Beast Coast ZHP Mafia meet is....June 10-12, 2011.

FOR SALE

$15 for the shirts, $10 for the newly designed windshield sticker, and new Mafia stickers are $2 for 2.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Temp itinerary is as follows:

1. June 10th, Friday.

~1720 >>>>>>> Pickup Boss from Norfolk Intl Airport.
~1900 >>>>>>> Arrive at home.

~All members wishing to arrive Friday for the meet and greet should plan to show up between 1700 an 1800. My Son, Justin (JW77), and some people that show up earlier, will be there to greet you and show you where the fridge is.

~1700-??? >>>> Barbeque bonfire/Dinner/Drinks/Etc/.

Gmatt has graciously offered his expertise in preparing the main course. It will consist of red hots, white hots, burger, potato salad, chips, gallons of beer and Hawaiian punch. Gmatt is providing much of this out of pocket....so you guys will see a tip jar near the bar-b-que. Only tip, if you are inclined to...but know it is not required. Mtnman (Renowned chef), and Static will be serving us appetizers. You guys can get started without me and Boss...just save us a few...lol

P.S. I dunno what a red/white is...but ima be eating some eeet!

2. June 11th, Saturday.

~1000-1300 >>> Meet up at old Ukrops for ZHP Mafia/Bellisimos Pizza Meet and lunch ($6 all you can eat pizza and salad is the best I could do). We can roll whenever it gets slow... Additionally...I plan to grab a group shot here.

~1300-1500 >>> Drive. Predetermined route, put together by Johnmadd. We test drove it the other day - Great drive through some of Williamsburg's finest area's. Should be fun. We will meet back where we started at Bellisimos.

~1500-??? >>>> I am open to anything here. I am going to be making reservations (based on interest), at the 2nd Street Bistro. You can Google it and check out the menu and other info. Drinks and dinner is what I'm down for. I have to do a VANOS job prior to heading over. You guys can come over to my place, head over to the outlets and shop, or go back to the room, before heading out to dinner. I am thinking this is going to be a 1900 to close kind of deal here.

3. June 12th, Sunday.

~0800 - ??? >>> This is a maintenance day to support guys that wanna do oil changes, tranny/diff changes, suspension, brakes, vanos type stuff. Would like to know ahead of time what to plan for...as I have 3 floor jacks and 2 jack stands. We can work on one car in the garage.....and two in the driveway at a time if need be and if weather supports. Signup list is rocking with 10+ signups for wrenching on some BMW's Sunday. Should be fun. Anyone is more than welcome to come help during this time, watch, or head back...if you have a long drive. Totally up to you guys.

I will have meet T-Shirts for sale ($15.00), and newly designed windshield stickers ($10.00)...as well as the new designed smaller stickers that we have been selling here for a while($2 for qty 2)................so bring some extra cash!!!!

Notes for people coming.

1. Look for the "BMW" flag. It will be posted on the power pole right across from my house.
2. If you could bring a chair for Friday night...that would be great.

My thoughts exactly.

I was thinking a more "central" location, and that we could caravan down together...

If I lived close enough, I'd be there.

I could host it at my place. Plenty of parking.....plenty of places to crash in the house....

Don't know if its central enough though.

If we get enough people to come down....I will get Beast Coast ZHP Mafia shirts made up, plan a drive, lunch...the whole nine yards.....Figure......start on a friday night...and end on maybe Sunday. I can also plan some other stuff too. Maybe get some sponsors/vendors to show up. Who knows....

That would be soooo awesome if you would be willing to do any of that (nevermind all of it lol). Mainly what we would need is (1) time and (2) a place to gather. If you could take care of (2) then I think we can all make arrangements to satisfy (1). :)

So, who's down on an official scale? If I get enough commitment, I could organize with Dane and plan out a caravan...

Long journey for me (3 miles) but I could swing it I believe. Seriously though, it would be awesome to line them up in different ways and get pics of all zhp's, could be the new site banner.

02-10-2011, 06:41 PM
Yeah....no kidding. I could get Tom Sandersen (Of..http://www.tomsandersonphotography.com/) to come shoot for us. He owes me...since I saved his car from 60k miles on one oil change.

My wifes sister and her family live in Chesapeake. Need a few more weeks for baby recovery, but if it's after that, I'm in. I can crash there so it's one less person that needs a place to stay. It's a 9 hour run from Georgia! Good times...

About 6 hours for me... Prolly run it the anti-95 way from here: Ferry out of Jersey, 13, and the Bay Bridge tunnel into Virg Beach.

This idea has some serious awesomeness potential...

1. Barbeque in back yard with huge bonfire.
2. A place to crash/shower.
3. A photographer/locations.
4. A drive for saturday w/ lunch and maybe dinner.
5. Those that wanna stay Saturday night are moar than welcome....
6. Maybe First annual "ZHP MAFIA Beast Coast Meet" shirts....if I can get a head count and put it together.

Unfortunately I can't do the weekend of the 26th because that'll be the start of my Disney vacation. Won't be back till early April...
I can do anytime before that. I also can't do the weekend of the 15th; I have a track day on the 15th and I can't go to that AND drive all the way down there. Too much...
Anytime after that or before my Disney vacation I'm down for...

kayger12
02-10-2011, 07:05 PM
We need Botond to step away from the DIS software and get back to his creation!

Edit: Welcome back, BP. Your idea is turning into quite the event. Nice work!

Its really not that far. When I was stationed down there I did the drive from Newport News to Norfolk, Portsmouth, or VA beach every day. Most everyone down there is used to the drive through the tunnels to get anywhere.

I could also fly into DC. I don't know the area well enough. I will wait for Dane to let me know which airport makes the most amount of sense.

I've also got a baby due four weeks later. I'll fly with SWA -- so that I don't lose any money in the event that my plans are preempted by a baby arriving.

I start a long maintenance period at work the beginning of April - my schedule is unknown.

If I could swing it and the weather permits, I would love to bring the family down. My one-year old daughter would love seeing areas of Williamsburg.

OK.....here's the deal. Since Marcus is flying in from SD and is the founder of ZHP Mafia ...he will be able to stay at my place, and I can pick him up at the airport. The rest of you bums will have to find a place to crash. I just don't have the room.

I will take 4 days vacation to support the awesomeness of this.

OBTW....April is a horrible month for me. I am in a play....at my local church that runs every weekend (F-Sa-Su) in April. Sorry.

My wife just hit me 10 times cuz I forgot. Lets shoot for May.....

The play is a huge deal at my church...and is my wifey's employment...so...I have to support.

I know fellas...buzz kill,,,but we gotta make this happen in May. Gives us plenty of time to plan....and gets me available. I wanna be able to do this right if we got people spending big bucks to fly in.

May cannot work for me -- unless it's the very first week (and even then it becomes extremely tentative for me). My wife is due in May.

Additionally, Bimmerfest is here on the west coast (two hours by car from me) in May. I will be at that.

I would likely be up for a meet after the baby is born. But you guys should absolutely plan this without me. I will do my best to make it.

Richmond is much easier commute, that's why I work there instead of norfolk. I drove 28 foot truck every day until I was promoted after 10 long years.

Bimmerfest is my other home. I have always wanted to go to that. Do you know Mark, he's got the awesome red e30 and is a moderator on there? Very nice guy on the net, badass car too.

If you guys are waiting for me, then it will likely be in June or July. But you can make a huge meet out of it. Gives you plenty of time to make arrangements and plans.

Ok, I am going to propose something out of complete self interest since August is a brutal month for me with something scheduled for every weekend.

Weekend of September 9th.

Upside is we're past most of the summer heat and it's a cheaper time for travel/hotels.

That being said, I know it's going to be tough to find a weekend when we can all make it, so if August works for everyone else, by all means, make it happen!

Northern states still have tons of snow, shoot it might still be snowing in April as it has before. Last thing any New Englanders want is driving back from somewhat warm weather to 25º, 12" of snow...

I think I think June is a fair month for weather everywhere and far enough out for everyone to Plan. Make hotel arrangements and budget for this.

Well, in the highly unlikely event that it's still cold and snowing in April, I think that would make it even more reason to get away from here. We've had cold for too long, it would be nice to have a break from this crap. We just shouldn't rule out any month in particular just yet unless enough people say they can't go.

As much as it sucks to say, but I agree with Adam about the fact that it's a logistal mess regardless of what month we choose.
Personally, as long as it's not a track day weekend (or my Disney vacation in late March-Early April), I don't care when I go.

You know, I'm sure there's a week that ALL of us are available, just have to crunch the numbers and find the weekend that everyone's around. We don't have enough east coast members for this to be a problem...

I am sure there is but I have seen this way to many times on many of the forums I am on. I usually takes a hard set date and people work around that.

I have helped organize and been to meets with over 200 cars. its hard to organize something to accommodate everyone. But fun is still had by all.

2 meets that started out with just 5 cars or so later turned to over 100 cars.

I won't let this go. I got Bellisimos (owned by Peter and Peter Sr. Micali.) pizza to sponsor our meet today. Huge parking lot and I got 10% off for members (coffee, pizza, calzones, spaghetti, canolis etc)

The Micalis have 3 BMWs in the Family. Young Pete has a 328i touring, Pops just bought a 528i, and mom has a 328i sedan. All E9x era...but I told them they could pop hoods with us if they wanted.

Used to be a UKrops in there that went outta business so there's an entire parking lot empty. Ima try o get the 6 spots right in front of the pizzeria reserved...an I just gotta check with the cops/landlords to see if I need a permit. Figured we would hang there Saturday night for a bit after the drive and lunch I have planned.

I personally was thinking ZHP-Mafia members only, though they don't have to have a ZHP, just be a member on the site. We could also use it as a marketing tool where people could ask what's going on and we could refer them to the site, but I was thinking this to be a get-together for those that know each other online but not in person.
In the end, I don't care who "else" is there as long as I get to meet all of you. :)

Is anyone around the Midwest area or anywhere between WI and VA? I have 3 days of vacation to use up before July, so I was thinking that it might be fun to drive out to meet you guys for the weekend. So if anyone lives near me (wisconsin), and would like to ride along I think it would be a good time!

I just drove 1000 miles back from Maryland in a day with one other person helping :P

But with the 2 days off for the weekend already, I could take off Thur, Fri, Mon. That way I could leave Thursday morning and be back for work on Tuesday.

It's too bad I'm doing my VANOS this weekend. I'd love to do the VANOS with the Mafia backing me...

Pasted for convenience for next person to add their name:

1. DW77 / 9 / 10 June / I have a lot of kids
2. Keith / 1 / 10 June
3. Botond / 1 / 10 June / I don't have a lot of kids. I actually don't have any.
4. Bill / 3 / 10 June (Very late) / Very tentative. If not 10th - then will catch up in the AM. Combining with stop at VA beach for my very curious daughter (1 y.o. toddler).
5. Marcus / 1 / June 10 (plane should land in Norfolk at about 4:30 pm). No kids to bring (though will have a newborn at home -- hooray!).
6. David/ 1 / 10 June Be there at 1700 when I can figure out what time that is. Really love to do vanos Sunday morning if thats possible, but will need adult supervision.

I'm not going to add my name to the official list yet, but I will express great interest in this weekend's events.

I'd be most interested in the "maintenance" section, possibly swap some pads/rotors with the guidance of more experienced wrenchers.

If I commit to this, I will definitely invite my buddy who also has a ZHP but is not on this site. He's not a forum guy, but he's worthy of this crowd, trust me.

Also, if we get the #s up, once all is solidified, I'd propose a feature in Roundel to Mr. Carlson. He may tell me to go ahead and write it and then decide whether or not to publish it. At the very least, if I go, this event will be given Roundel pub in my column.

I am considering making the incredible 3,000 mile road trip, coast to coast. But, it'll hurt the pocketbook a lot more if the gas prices continue to rise. That'd be about $1000 round trip for the gas. I would be more apt to go if a caravan from the WC wants to go to the EC.

Coming from Hanover (17331).

Two routes that I've used previously:

(1) PA94/MD30 S to I-795. I-795 to I-695. I-695 around Bmore to I-95 S towards DC.

(2) PA194 S to RT 15. RT 15/I-270 S towards DC.

Then around DC on I-495 to I-95 S. Before I hit Richmond, I'll take 264 to 64 all the way to Dane's.

I've also hopped off I-95 in VA and taken RT 13 (IIRC) to Hampton.

If you have other suggestions, please share! There may be others coming down I-95.

We may want to move this to another thread to put this info out there for others...

Just so everyone knows......traffic going into Norfolk is going to suck.

My suggestion is that if you live North......just meet up at my house.

If you live South....Meet us at the airport.

I just want this to be a fun time for all, and not a frustrating one. You guys will be on the road enough......and the drive past my house - to the aiport - and back to my house will add 2 hours of driving.....

Traffic issues understood. If the caravan idea poses an issue, such as safety (which they do sometimes) I'm good with what is best for the group. Perhaps an HOV strategy ;)

No, it's going to be really frustrating. Why? Because of people like like to cut in an out of traffic, and those people that merge onto the highway separate our group. I'm kind of done travelling in groups; every time I do, I end up getting in trouble with the law one way or another because "I have no choice". :shifty

That's why I'm going to hitch a ride with DW and ride back with him and the Don.

That's why I'm going to hitch a ride with DW and ride back with him and the Don.

Good plan. If you ride with me I'll rub though....

Not if you drive Jersey style :mafia

You mean especially if you roll Jersey style... :shifty
Them Jerseyheads got screws loose or something whenever I drive there, because I haven't seen too many that can drive... :(
Definitely better than New Yorkers though, by a LOOOOOOONG shot. (I mean them city slickers)
I hear bad things about CT drivers, and... it's completely true as well.

Sign me up! I'm willing to drive up just to hang out with some other BMW people. I'm sure I can do Saturday and I'm working on figuring out how I can manage Friday too.

See if she'll move the wedding for you, Kristen. Let her know why: you want to attend the first annual ZHP Mafia Beast Coast meet.

Hey I just joined the mafia about 30 minutes ago, and only had my ride for under a year. But I want to come to the reunion! I only live in Va Beach too so no problem for me to do the airport convoy. I have not done much to my ride ('01 330ci vert auto) but hopefully by June I will not look too shabby next to everybody's awesome mods.
