Advanceautoparts.com got this 40% off sale, and I need new brakes so why not go for something a little better than usual? These are the top 4 rated pads listed for my model ("Exact Fit for your 2003 BMW 330i")... never had ceramics before:

Wearever Gold Ceramic Brake Pads - Rear (4-Pad Set)
Part No. GNAD 683 [LIMITED LIFETIME REPLACEMENT] Warranty Details
$47.99

EURO Ultra Premium Ceramic Brake Pads - Front (4-Pad Set)
Part No. EUR946 [3 YR REPLACEMENT IF DEFECTIVE] Warranty Details
$68.99

Wagner ThermoQuiet Semi-Metallic Brake Pads - Front (4-Pad Set)
Part No. MX946 [LIMITED LIFETIME REPLACEMENT] Warranty Details
$61.99

EURO Ultra Premium Ceramic Brake Shoes - Rear (has 7 reviews, the others only 1 each, if that means anything)
Part No. EUR683 [3 YR REPLACEMENT IF DEFECTIVE] Warranty Details
$61.99

(Linky if u wanna see for yourself) (http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/category_brake-pads-shoes_16463#storeId=10151&langId=-1&catalogId=10051&vehicleIdSearch=171212&isAllVehicle=false&navigationPath=L1*14921|L2*16463&sortBy=6&categoryId=16463&fromCategory=yes&pageId=ajaxPartList&category=&keywords=brake-pads-shoes&l1_categoryId=16463&l2_categoryId=&partType=&beginIndex=0&filterValue=vehicleId1%3A171212*exact&prCnt=851&pageSize=20&filters=vehicleId1%3A&selectedPartNumber=&qty=1&ship2HomeClicked=)

I will also need new sensors and possibly new rotors... I was told I should get new rotors when the pads are worn down enough to light up in my HUD... cash is tight too but I dont wanna hurt the new brakes etc....

Advice please!

I would just get the ceramics if dust is an issue.

Use the affiliate link :)

Jay- I would just go with a good semi-metallic replacement. No need to go super high end, and no need to buy just regular replacements either. Go middle of the road, it will make for a slight difference, yet still be friendly to the wallet. Also, with 99.5% of normal every day driving, the pads won't really make much of a difference. We don't get extreme cold here in FL, so you won't need to worry about them heating up.

Personally, I say go with budget friendly. 4 new pads and rotors will be a big help, and you'll need sensors too. From there, you're good to go.

Thanks guys... yes brake dust is a problem but not so much that I would sacrifice the durability, its not that important... just that they were all about the same price on the site, especially after the discount, and I always heard ceramic brakes were "better" and would just have been cool to try for these prices, but.....

So just get the

Wearever Gold Semi-Metallic Brake Pads - Front (4-Pad Set)
Part No. GMKD 946 [LIMITED LIFETIME REPLACEMENT]
$40.99
Wearever Gold Semi-Metallic Brake Pads - Rear (4-Pad Set)
Part No. GMKD 548 [LIMITED LIFETIME REPLACEMENT]
$40.99

As far as rotors:

Wearever Brake Rotor - Front/Rear
Part No. YH145412/Part No. YH145416 [2 YR REPLACEMENT IF DEFECTIVE]
$68.99/$58.99

And

Wearever Brake Pad Wear Sensor Front/Rear
Part No. 084-1514/Part No. 084-1522 [90 DAY REPLACEMENT IF DEFECTIVE]
$19.39/$19.89

But I have to get 2 of each rotor?
So total for rotors only is $256... plus pads/sensors = $377? (After 40% discount, hurts a little less = $226)

I know I saw a post recently about the ZHPMafia affiliate links etc... but I thought that was only through Amazon... where is the affiliate link to Advanceautoparts?

Honestly, I wouldn't buy anything from Advance Auto, mainly due to the quality of what they sell. Brakes is a quality over quantity thing for me.

Personally, I sprang for EBC Redstuff pads at $90-ish for the front end (I have BMW Performance calipers though).

I put Akebono Euro ceramics on my C55AMG - love them - NO dust. Ordered a set for the A4 Avant and will install next week. Never going back to "dusty" pads again for a daily driver.
