Would love to hear the family's feedback on the ecs carbon struts and whether it is a worthy replacement:

Thanks!

Thank you gents.

I understand it's not the BMW carbon strut (that Bill sold recently) but wonder if it reduces the roll significantly better than the OEM.

And Dane - if I may, may I know why you sold and what you currently have please?

Thanks!

Why not go with an oem m3 strutbar?

I still have it and like it. I really don't notice much in performance but it looks nice and prevents mushrooming of the shock towers.

Yea it won't do anything for reducing roll on the street.

This. Swaybars do more for body roll.

I just wish someone would make a strut bar as good looking at the BMW Performance One. It's a real shame that they stopped producing it. Quite the gem.

I too had the ECS carbon fiber strut brace on my ZHP and had it for about a year. It is a great strut bar but when the BMW Performance carbon fiber strut bar became available, I jumped on it and replaced my ECS strut bar for the new one. Since I have coilovers, the BMW Performance strut bar works much easier and allows for adjustements whereas, the ECS strut bar is covered. Speaking for myself, this is primarily why I got rid of my ECS carbon fiber strut bar in favor for my BMW Performance carbon fiber strut bar.

I ended up giving my ECS carbon fiber strut bar to BP who then sold it to Chad44 who is currently running with it. :)

This has me considering a change in plans from an OE M3 bar ... unless I can find a used one for a song, I might just spring for this bit of CF goodness!

If I had the OE ///M strut bar to begin with, I would keep that unless I could get the BMW Performance CF Strut Bar but that's me. When I got my ZHP it did not have any strut bars so I initially got the ECS CF strut bar and was happy. Steve "Prowlerflyer" sourced his BMW Performance CF strut bar and gave me a heads up that the place he got his from had another unused BMW Performance CF strut bar, which I immediately got. That's the only reason I removed my ECS CF strut bar.

Sorry to revive a somewhat dead thread, but I'm probably going to order this strut bar in the near future. I'll post a review upon installation.

I think a couple people have had it and liked it for what it was. It is a decent design without hinges. I believe Dane has had this one and countless others so he is probably the best person for feedback.

Good bar. Looks great and prevents strut tower mushrooming.

I went to UUC as its much more rigid than the CF bars. Next will be a Mason Engineering.

I just installed the ECS carbon fiber strut bar and am very happy with the looks and ease of installation. One note - one of the two black plates is designed for the left tower, to fit under the positive terminal. If you look closely at the second pic below, you can see that the width of the shoulder to the right of the nut is narrower than the shoulder to the left - this is the only difference. You will figure this out when you first try to fit a plate to the left tower - there is only one that will fit and it must be in the correct orientation. The ECS instructions on their website picture what I assume is an older plate design, so the instructions don't mention this detail about the new plate design. Install is otherwise very easy - took maybe 15 minutes with 5 of that spent trying to figure out how to get a plate under the positive terminal!
