View Full Version : Interest in Central CA Coast Meet next summer (2014)?

I know it early, but we've had successful mini-meets in both NorCal and SoCal. There has been interest in a larger West Coast gathering so we were thinking having one in 2014, in either Central California (or possibly Vegas). If Central CA, it would be during summer when people have more time and the weather is good. If Vegas, it would be earlier due to the summer heat. So, not knowing details, who might be interested in a gathering just to see if it's something we should even explore further? Any other ideas as to time of year/place?

I'd be open to either. Central California is closer for me but also has fantastic views. Vegas has plenty for me to do as well so can't complain.

That sounds wonderful. During last weekend's SF meet we were throwing around the idea of meeting up in San Luis Obispo. Very central location, near the Ocean, which means post card views as far as the eye can see. Although I have never been there, I hear its a quaint little college town. The location is very central. About 3.5 hour drive from either LA or SF. Although 6.5 hours from Vegas.

Some of us NorCalers thought that meeting up in Monterey and doing a caravan along Pacific Coast Highway (1) would pretty fun and spectacular. SoCal folks (including Vegas crew) have an option of doing the same.

I'm more inclined towards central California. Easier for the majority.

Central Cal gets my vote, and I look forward to it.

Sounds like the Central CA coast is the far and away winner so far, so we'll focus on that.

Toddness says he knows San Luis Obispo well, I'd love to hear his input. It sounds like a good choice.

I know it is harder to get the west coast folks on board with meets, but I think some of the LA/San Diego folks just haven't chimed in. William, JP, John, Jon if he is on a ship near LA, etc. I'm missing a bunch of other potential southern CA folks. I know Gary (wolf) would probably be interested given enough time for planning.

Any idea what month this might be?

Its hard to commit so far away. Also, any idea on a rough location? It looks like Monterey or SLO?

Ya I'm down Fo Sho! Sorry I missed this thread guys. I really enjoyed getting together down at Johns in August.

So is this a meet and hang out or wrenching on cars? Also you guys mentioned Vegas so I will throw this out there. If you guys want I will offer a FREE place to stay and chill or do some wrenching on cars. I have a 4 bedroom house with 2 spare bathrooms, plus plenty of room to crash with sleeping bags. I would recommend nothing after May 1st as it's too dam hot here! Oh and I have a heated swimming pool!

Crickett (Travis) lives 30 minutes away also.

Now that registration is open, and we have a few more CA members, I think I'll bump this.

Please, everyone within range of central CA who is interested in a meet with our West Coast members, please check in here. Just tell us if you are interested, post any ideas you might have, etc. Anything relevant.

Let's even the score with the East Coast. As it stands:

Tupac: 0
Biggie: 1

Not cool. :biggrin

Not sure. I'd rather have a coastal meet place. Central valley will be hot as hell mid-summer.

There isn't. The best way to contact a group of people is the group feature. Click on "community" at the top of the page, then select group. It will allow you to add members to that group. I think it will send them an notice to accept membership. So essentially it's a semi-private thread. But, you would get that first contact out to all w/o having to send multiple PMs.

What is the community group? In the regional forum or something?

johnrando
01-17-2014, 07:50 AM
Near the top of your screen (just under "what's new"), click on community. Within that you can have groups... so click on the group. That way you reach people who may not check the regional subforum. It's almost like a separate group chat.
