Mine....

18"X8" Enkei EKM3's & Hankook Ventus V12's-Front (225's), Rear (245's)
Offset +42mm
15mm spacers in the front.
Lowered on FK Silverline X coilovers....
http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E46-330i-M54_3.0L/Suspension/Coil_Overs/FK_Stainless_Series/ES248297/

Suspension (New CAB's, FSM's, RSM's, Coilovers) just installed within the week. Stiil relaxing....

**If you have stock...its cool to post in here with a pic in here and just say you gawts 135's with stock suspension. I'm easy like that....and it's another place for you to show your car.

Droid pic..so be nice.

Still stock here.

If I end up getting rid of the 335, maybe I'll have to move my KW coilovers and BBS wheels to the ZHP. Ha!

Oh snap...that would be sic as !#$%....

Ride came down nicely, another inch in the front tonight (so imagine above pic lower in front by an inch . Should settle out some too.

15mm spacers had to come off the front. I plan to hook it up with 5's in front and rear.

Definetly VMR V710s at some point and coilovers. Maybe Bilsteins or KW Variants.

Wont be for a while though probably

Very, Very Nice. What made you go back to the OEM wheel?

Just time for a change in the spring. I ran the VMR V710's for 2 summers. I'm trying to decide if I want to go with another similar wheel or go lightweight with a track style setup or an aggressive OEM setup.

If you'd like to retain some performance I'd suggest the Bridgestone RE960AS. The DWS lacks steering feel and dry handling prowess. The RE960 is decent in the snow, great in the rain and dry. Also, it is quieter than the Michelin AS+ which is why I'd put it first on my list.

My current stance now resides here....

Looks great! I'd never have the courage to lower my car that much though. Props.

Its not courage, its insanity.

The drive is surprising. I may have to bring it back up 1/4"....IDK....Ima drive it some more today.

Are you rubbing even with rolled fenders?

danewilson77
11-13-2010, 05:54 AM
Fenders aren't rolled......

Marcus-SanDiego
11-13-2010, 06:32 AM
You should roll them. See if that eliminates it.

I'm only talking about rolling fenders -- not flaring them out.

Depends what it's rubbing on. Rub enough on the backside of a painted surface and it will heat up and burn the paint. you know Alec on E46Fanatics with the green 328i? Happened to him. Saw it myself in person and it wasn't pretty. He had to get the entire fender repainted.

danewilson77
11-13-2010, 07:34 AM
OK......only rubs.....a lil tiny bit (I mean.....barely noticeble) on front right. Think its hitting the well liner....

Measurements should be done on a level surface from the bottom of the fender to the middle of the wheel (center of the roundel). Doing it this way eliminates variations in the road and measuring points.

It would also be helpful if a couple owners with 100% OEM setups measured their cars as well.

But your wheels are not stock. Also, your tire sizes may be different than OEM.

Unless you have different wheels than what's shown in your sig pic...?

Also, I should note that your trunk and rest of interior should be empty and your tank full of gas.

Here's the area that should be measured. Put the tape measure right up against the fender and measure to the center of your roundel (center of hub).

Stance? Stock, spaced rear.

Currently, 16" style 45s on 225 55 16 Hankook V4s, with 15mm spacers in the rear.

http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/ad185/bill_schuster/IMG_4312.jpg

Apex ARC-8's in Satin Black 18x9 all around with RE050 245/40/18 all around. My actual tires are Nitto Invo's 255/35/18, but they are backordered where I got them from, and where I got them from is about 60 bucks cheaper per tire, and no tax, so I don't really mind.

New to the forum!

I ran the first 95,000 miles stock (let's face it, the engineers did a pretty good job without my intervention) but Eibach pro springs are going on in a couple days. Also, after running thru my last 2 sets of Goodyear F1's, I've been riding on Hankooks for a few thousand miles. As for the stock wheels-- I love 'em.

Will update my user profile soon....

Absolutely. I took a measurement before and after to see how much it kicked out at the top of the tire. Obviously 15mm at center.

From the back, it looks like there is some serious negative camber (?) - think it just emphasizes my factory alignment and looks very cool.

What kind of fender mods? I just put on Conti DW 265/30/19 a few days ago and I'm getting slight rub in the rear if I have a passenger in the car with me. I didn't have that with my previous Toyo T1R 255/30/19's unless I was fully loaded and cornering moderately hard. I notice the side of the tire has a bit of rub. I remember there being some type of knob/screw that came out near the rear that needs to be shaved? I've already rolls my fenders moderately too.

bimmeryota
06-14-2011, 03:38 PM
Mine is moderately rolled now too. I need to shave down that clip that you're referring to as well as some of the plastic that is attached to that. I first will flare the fender out more that under full compression the tire will not rub as abruptly above the lip. I really want to stay with 265s since there are more choices for tires and I think they look perfect for the size of wheel.
Why did you go up to 265s from the 255s?

Could you please tell me or someone else chime in and tell me what the purpose of having your tires not at the edge of your rims? it looks cool, but seems dangerous, but please educate me.

Rovert
07-06-2011, 11:32 AM
The purpose for having a stretched tire is so when the suspension compresses, the tire will not hit the inside of the fender at the top when running aggressive offset wheels. That is a wheel that is much farther out than stock. Having a "squared off" tire on such an aggressive offset would surely hit the inside fender liner.

It is still safe to run a stretched tire but I wouldn't feel safe being overly stretched. Having a strong sidewall will aid in safety from bumps and you want to make sure your tire pressures don't fall too low or else there could be some tire wobble which can create traction issues.

The main thing for stretched tires is just looks. You wouldn't track your vehicle like that.

Yeah stretched tires is def for looks and for my clearance. No way I could run like a 265 tire on a 9.5 inch rim. My stretch isnt crazy. My buddy has a 225 on 9.5 and I have seen 215 on 9.5 which is too much for me. As far as tracking. Um there is some discussion on that. The guys in Japan are drifting like 205 tires on 9.5. So they are way stretched. I would think drifting would put a lot of stress on sidewall but they are doing it. If u look at that one pic of mine with my finger pointing to the tire that smooth cut is actually from fender coming down and cutting the sidewall. Probably. 3/16 deep. I kinda like it. Kinda like battle wounds. If u want an aggressive stance u have to play the game. :)

Anyone else running crazy offsets? Any other 9.5 squared on here? :)

Rovert
07-06-2011, 12:34 PM
I think extreme stretched on 16" wheels is different than massive stretch on 19's...LOL. Those drifters sure know their stuff. I'm guessing they stretch their tires so that transitioning the lateral movement is smoother over surface irregularities. Try drifting "slideways" against a squared curbed versus a rounded curb.

I'm still rubbing at ET45 19x9.5 on 265/30/19 Conti DW's. The tires are much more squared off compared to my stretched looking 255/30/19 Toyo T1R's which had no problem clearing. Luckily it's minor rubbing now as I used the dremel to shave some of the inside parts of the rear fender/bumper section. I think I need to pull the fenders more as I did a moderate roll years ago. That or stiffen the rear more.

haha yes, I know. On our bi-annual azbmw group drives I have a hard time keeping up with a lot of the newer cars and E46 M3's but once we hit the twisties in the mountains, I am on their ass and frequently pass them up. I have replaced and upgraded every suspension component on my car and I can hit corners that frequently scare my passengers and put the WTF in other cars trying to keep up. haa F2 coils, UUC sways and FCAB/RTABs, Strongstrut strut brace, etc. all make a HUGE difference on cornering
