View Full Version : Finally got her back... Long story BEWARE

Well after 27 days of not having my ZHP, she is finally back. Unfortunately the dealership did a terrible job of repairing stuff.

First issue i noticed was how ugly the repair was to the stut tower. I still feel a bump where the crease was where it mushroomed. Also they didn't even touch up the paint chips and just left it with bare metal (great for future rust spots :facepalm). Cant forget all the metal shavings they left either.
CORRECTION: Not metal shavings but instead it is scrap pieces from the rubber sealant. I wasn't comfortable touching them and was going to wait to show the dealership the mess they left but my mechanic corrected me.

Once I started up the car I punched the gas peddle to hear the inline 6 for the first time in 27 days and it sounded god awful coming up from idle. I immediately called the guy in charge of all the paperwork and stuff over to my car and he witnessed it and took it over to the Service Department. Comes back a few minutes later telling me to just drive it for a day and it should go away (I guess this is what happens when a car isnt started up for a month.

Next up I plug in my radar detector as soon as I pull out of the dealership and guess what doesn't work. I then plug in my iPhone charger and it doesn't which means my outlet doesn't. Pretty sure my faced turned red and i grew some horns i was so pissed. Then I tested everything else while heading home and realize the windshield washer pump doesn't work.

I then drove it into the night and realized my brand new ($861) headlight is not only a different color temperature but is out of alignment firing into the back window of lifted up trucks.

I get to my dad's to show him all the shit that isn't right and open the trunk to get my flashlight out and look what i find...

http://i873.photobucket.com/albums/ab293/bensammons/BMW%20330i%20ZHP/BMWRepair-1606.jpg

Not only did they take my old battery and give me a new HUGE heavy battery. They took the effing tray that covers it.

I looked my car over a little more today and start noticing many scratches that I KNOW FOR A FACT weren't on my car when I put it in the shop.

All in all I'm very pissed and my dad is getting the adjuster to look over the work so I can get this stuff fixed.

One of the major scratches.

Man. My local people know I would never put up with substandard work, so I have not experienced this before. But, wow, would I be extremely irritated -- especially after nearly a month of waiting.

How in the hell does the dealer allow the car to leave in that condition? They didn't think that the customer (you) would notice?

Can't wait for pictures.

Let us know if you need any enforcers sent your way.

Damn, that sucks. . . reminds me of that one epic story of the 350z from socal.

They better get things right for you.

Best of luck. We all hate having work done to just find out they screwed the pooch on the repairs.

We need to form a mob and intimidate whoever worked on the car.
Or, if that isn't a good idea, we could always... picket.

They need to fix, and put a priority on it, because incompetance cannot be accepted.

I'm very sorry to hear that things didn't work out. Hopefully the dealer will be cooperative in sorting everything out. This is exactly why I avoid the dealer except for parts; they don't care about the quality or the cars any more - they just want your money. A reputable independent will do a significantly better job than pretty much any dealer. I've seen many cars come through and usually the worst work is performed by new-car dealers.

Do we need to "send the dealership a message"?

We will give them an offer they can't refuse.

romanred62
02-17-2011, 05:51 AM
Thanks for all the offers :shift. I'm taking the car back here in 20 minutes and leaving it there for the day so they can fix the stuff that wasn't fixed. Good news is I get a loaner :roundel

If I'm not satisfied once it returns I might need some backup :mafia

Err, aren't you under 25? If you are, they won't give you a loaner. If they did, they'd be violating insurance requirements and I believe it would also be considered fraud on their part...

Yeah I'm 20. My dad must have misunderstood. I ended up just driving my dad's company van and I'm still waiting to hear from the dealership since they told me it would be done today and they close in 40 minutes.

You ain't gettin' it today. Dealers are unreliable with their ETC estimates.

What douchebags it bothers the hell out of me when the ones that are supposed to be the most professional and most capable are the least able to do the job right. You don't know how many tantrums i've thrown when my fellow co workers fail. Best of luck to you and your car. Hope they fix everything, for FREE!

I was thinking the exact same thing until 5 minutes after I posted that post I got a phone calling saying it was ready. Turns out it wasn't a new battery I just thought it was smaller than it really was. The tray was hiding under my trunk mat on top of the spare.

My BIGEST frustration is the fact that my headlights are 2 different colors and brightnesses. They are telling me they used the lamp that came out of the old housing in the new one and that the housing is the reason they dont look the same. Well I call them out on the fact that they dont make it match and return the car not in the condition prior to the accident. I'm tired of fighting with them so I might just go with some Depo's from Khoa since I'm so OCD about matching stuff.

So in their ENTIRE DAY OF WORK they fix ONE THING... the washer fluid pump. $44 item (BMW price) and 10 minute install.

Now it's dinner time and then a long drive in my car to calm my frustration.

I agree with Marcus, take a nice long drive. Try either soothing music or maybe some loud music to really get it out of your system depends on you of course. Also getting to bed early won't do you wrong.

Tonight's story, what used to be a BMW dealership in the [town/city] of [Town/City, State] is now in ruins, as an air-to-ground missile struck the building at eleven o'clock last night, completely decimating what used to be a "premier" car dealership.
There were no witnesses to the act, and nobody so far has been able to identify the source or the location the missile was coming from.

In other news, there has been a string of murders in the town of [insert name of town previously used here], all of which have been ruled as suspicious...

On the plus side. I ordered hood, trunk, center caps, and steering wheel roundels from khoalty. I also finally ordered clear corners and sides along with the chrome bulbs for them. And since I was 10 cents away from free shipping I decided to throw in an LED tag light. Can't wait to get it all in so I can have something to do and get new pictures of my car.
