Thank you. It was a great experience. They were very upfront and organized. They showed me the service invoice for all the work they did and were very quick with doing all the lovely paperwork. Jeff Hanson was my sales rep. He was very professional. I would really recommend Schomp BMW.

They did their BMW vehicle inspection checklist and replaced the:
-coolant thermostat
-brake pads and sensor and 2 discs
-oil change
-air filters
-control arm bushings
-front passenger window regulator
-oil level sensor
I can scan it if anyone is interested.

Generally speaking, yes. (depends on mileage on them). They can have a crack or somewhat harden, and it's not always easy to spot. Plus, they can crack when taking them off so it doesn't hurt having a new one just in case.

You need to get as much if the old stuff out of the system. I'd wait till you need to replace some lines. Or do the lines, reservoir, lines and fluid as preventive maintenance. Otherwise you're just mixing that expensive stuff with whatever is in there.

Leather is just more practical for my applications. Alcantara feels amazing but I kind of think it was meant to be used with gloves on. If it was my weekend only car, I'd definitely keep the Alcantara but for daily, leather works better.

Yes I agree because all the oils that stick in the alcantara do not make for a good looking wheel plus it wears down eventually

So with a cheap oil extractor pump I bought at Advanced Auto I was able to (gradually) change my power steering fluid.

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/02/21/ugyve7u2.jpg
Make sure to use lots of towels so you don't get the fluid all over the place! I used Redline D4 ATF fluid and bought it off of amazon.

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/02/21/uqe3ejaq.jpg
Here is what the fluid that was in it looked like! It was much browner in person trust me..

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/02/21/pysuvehu.jpg
Insert one of the hoses into the reservoir and the other into a catch can. I used an old coffee can. Use the pump and remove all the fluid you can from the reservoir.
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/02/21/y7ugysep.jpg

Once the reservoir is empty, pour the new fluid in until your dipstick says it is full (the cap should be at or just below the top line). Start the engine and either go for a quick drive or let it idle and move the wheel from lock to lock. After about 5 minutes shut the engine off and repeat (suck out fluid and fill it and get the fluid moving)
I did this 3 times (I know kind of a waste of money) and am happy with the color of the fluid that is in it. I plan to do one more change tomorrow after some driving.http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/02/21/ruvuzeba.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/02/21/pu7uga6y.jpg

Garry,

32 psi is a little low for the fronts on the street. 38 seems a bit high. How does it ride better? Smoother or better handling? What tires? Also watch the fronts with that low psi with out drastic temperature swing this time of year. 60 degrees to 15 degree will drop your pressures. You don't want to hit a something and bend a rim because your pressures have fallen under 30.

I typically run 36/34 or 34/34 on the street depending on the car and the tire. The ZHP has Kumho A/S and it set to 34/34. The Kumhos will be gone soon. The car needs proper summer and winter tires. I have to decide on some summer wheels first.

I have to decide on some summer wheels first.

t.

I went with what was in the drivers door and some mafia member recommendations. It rides smoother but I may bump it up 34 all around again until spring/summer.

Garry,

32 psi is a little low for the fronts on the street. 38 seems a bit high. How does it ride better? Smoother or better handling? What tires? Moved to 34/38. Front turns in better. Thanks for the advice. I will toggle the rear later. Lincoln has some bad streets so I don't want a bent rim!

I'm guessing the tire pressures are so high in the rear to invoke under steer rather than over steer.

Yes. This along with our staggered wheel setup. I prefer same pressure all around given the car's excellent weight distribution front & rear, but it depends on your taste and tire choice as to what pressure is best. FWIW, the Michelin Pilot AS+ are happy at 33-34 PSI, IMHO. Have yet to run them on the track, but hot pressures usually ramp up around 38 depending on track temp., turns, and ambient temp. in my experience with previous tires. I say go with what feels good, provided you are within the tire manufacturers limits.

Ha ha. It's all your perspective. I think the roads here are great. But I've lived in DC, Baltimore and Philly too. What I don't like about Nebraska roads is the amount of sand and rock they put down in the winter. It will leave nose with lots of stone chips if you aren't careful.

Regarding tire pressure there is no absolute right answer. It depends on your tires, what you carry around with you and your preferences. Play around with the pressures and go from there.

Yes that stuff works good! The heel pad is still a tad worn though but that's ok.

How's the Dodo juice? I use P21S but no shops down here sell dodo. If it's good I may need to order some.

I really liked it. It was very easy to apply and buff off. I cannot wait to try the DODO supernatural. The NFS DODO is good for a quick wax (meaning you already have wax layered on from before and are adding to it).

For soap I use Chemical Guys Maxi Suds. I only have tried DODO waxes. But they do have a soap.

Today ( April 5th) was the tech session for the local BMW CCA chapter. It was hosted at European Autotech here in Lincoln and the owner Ben is a great guy and he really knows his stuff. Not knowing anyone, I felt very welcomed when I introduced myself to the other members. There was a pretty good turnout. A couple of E60s (M5, 535i, and 545i), 2 ZHPs (including mine), an E30 with a S50 engine, and a E36 ti just to name a few of them. Ben owns both a Dinan 3 e46 and e92 and his cars were both there too. The focus of this tech session was to inform/teach about the importance of maintenance. After a nice chat we began the actual maintenance aspect of the meet. My car was put up on the lift and I told everyone about the ZHP and how it's of course not very special :). Ben did my transmission and differential oil, replacing them with Redline fluids. The transmission fluid appeared to have been changed before but the differential fluid was black! Overall I really enjoyed the meet. Below are some pics.

I am on the end next to another silver grey e46 http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/06/hy7ejyja.jpg

Gary, I couldn't make the the tech event a couple weeks back. My daughter's first communion was that morning. Looks like it was a good turnout.

It was great! I really liked meeting everyone and seeing all the different BMWs that hide throughout Lincoln. Unfortunately I will not be able to make it next week but Ben and I have talked about it and I think I will go next year. I'm curious to see how his car does on the track it's a beast! You are taking the ZHP correct? That should be a blast.
