Wheel Specs:
BMW Style 193
F - 18x8 ET34
R - 18x8.5 ET 37

OEM Tire Specs:
F - 225/40/18
R - 255/35/18

Can I run 245/40/18s on the front?

When I bought my e90, it came with wider front tires and OEM style 162. Can't remember the exact size, though. I didn't have rubbing issues (or any issues, for that matter).

With a 245, you'll be pushing the max allowable on the front wheel.

To make sure your speedo isn't messed up, proper sizing would be 245/35

Thanks guys.

I asked because a local guy is selling a pair of brand new Super Sports for very cheap. Looks like I will continue my search...or may just break down and buy a set of AS3s.

I don't think you will have a speedo issue because it's the front wheel. But the DSC will behave differently. The system evaluates the speed of both front and rear wheels and steps in when the delta exceeds some threshold. I suspect the DSC will activate earlier. I know running an 235/40 up with a 235/35 in the rear results with the DCS stepping in sooner. That setup has the front 4mm taller. And you are proposing making it 8mm taller. So the delta between front and rear will be even greater.

I found pics of my wheels and tires before selling them. Yes, mine were 245/40/18 on the front. You can see the numbers in the picture. As mentioned, I didn't have any issues at all.

Thanks for the picture, fredo. Luckily, I'm going to buy a set of barely used 255/35/18 Pilot Sports tonight!

Very nice ... does this mean you also bought the front 245/40/18s ?

Ended up not being Pilot Sports...the hunt continues. I might buy the Khumos that Keith raves about..

Khumo or Conti Exteme DWS.

DWSs don't hold a candle to the Pilot Sport AS3s. I think I am going to save some money and go with the Khumos though!
