Now Dario....you know as well as I do that the dash is very easy to replace on these cars.... JP you won't have any problems. all you have to do is take out 4 nuts and one phillips screw and the dash will come out....just be careful to disconnect a wire that's attached to the dash when pulling it out.

Only way to do if you want to remove the OE grey carpeting for the black...:thumbsup

Your new ZHP coupe will look awesome when you complete the black interior....can't wait to see progress my friend!!! :)

Hahaha, thanks Charlie! Now you guys understand why I called dibs on Charlie's powered/heated M3 seats when he does the retrofit for the BMW Performance seats. I will have a choice of full option, or bare bones M3 seats! Now I'm in a holding pattern on you, bud!

Edit: oh yeah, I have a spare set of wheels ;)

JP, you've mentioned that it has an H&R cup kit? which one is it the Touring or Sport? Seems kind of high for a lowered car. The reason I'm asking is because I was considering the H&R touring kit for my coupe so I'm trying to find a good reference point to see if the drop is sufficient.

http://www.bridgestonetire.com/content/dam/bst/tires/models/potenza-re-11a/trio.png

I can't speak for the 11A, but I have the 11 and the dry grip is quite awesome. They tramline like a mofo though, so don't hit any bumps or grooves in the road. :(

Hermes
03-23-2014, 08:26 AM
They wouldn't be street tires so I'm not too worried about that. I honestly would rather have Pilot Sport Cup's but they don't make those in 17 anymore, and RE-11S' need to be ordered direct from Japan

^ Dude... that's full-blown Hoosier territory in price...

You can get a set of Hoosier R6 or A6 (depending on intended usage) in 255/45-17 for just over $1100, which is LESS than the 'semi-slick' compound of the RE-11S!

Hermes
03-23-2014, 08:47 AM

Yeah, that's why I decided on the 11A

I was going to say the RE11A is also very close in price, but apparently prices have come down significantly since I bought my set. When I bought mine in 2010, a set cost well over a grand for the 18" size. Now it's a couple of hundred less than it was back then. The 17" size is even cheaper, of course.

I'd say it's a good choice. I loved driving with them at Lime Rock. :)

OMG RE11S look sick! I want those , but holy crap at the price.

Interesting though is the RE11A is not very close in price to the Dunlop StarspecII. HMM when I run out of tires on my track tires I will have a tough decision.

Yeah, I found the 11S because they have selection in 15" (for the old cars). Just need to finish building he engine and then I'll deal with wheels/tires for them

Edit:

So E46's had two possible alternators depending on which shape plug it has (oval=Bosch or rectangular=Valeo).

This is the alternator in the red car:

They are the same, probably just a manufacture date. The issue is Bosch vs Valeo. Since both have Bosch stamps I'm good and can swap them over.

John and I traded exhausts over the weekend, he got the Magnaflow and I got the UUC. This was because of an issue with full cat back exhausts and the extra bracing on the underbody of a vert. When I dropped the Magnaflow off at the exhaust shop I told them how they would need to modify the exhaust to clear the brace under his car, so he will have the full cat back installed on his once that is done.

Awesome JP! Great work, appreciate all the help. It looks great. I miss my TSE3 quite a bit, so hopefully the Magnaflow fits. Can't believe you got it home like that! Nice video too. Frankly, I like the TSE3 better. Darn brace. :)

Yeah, I like it too ;)

Mike seems like a really knowledgable guy, he knows what he has to do to make it fit on your car. The issue was you went on a day when he wasn't there so his brother modified your brace to fit the exhaust. Mike is gonna modify the exhaust to fit the brace. Besides, the Magnaflow is way shinier than the UUC and you love the chrome ;)

Make sure to keep those tips clean!!! That was after a round of full effect and some scrubbing. I've noticed that Iron-X does great on removing residue on exhausts, make sure to buy some. I need to order a new bottle for myself.

do you have any plans to go into photobucket and fix the hosting issues on the original images that are in the beginning of your thread? would love to start from the beginning of your build thread.

Yes Photobucket does suck but it's easier to fix and change the setting in his account rather than go back and try to repost them and repost all new links.

What made you end up getting camber arms? Not able to get within spec?

That’s why I did (maxed out under -1.0°. I’m curious to know about Hermes.

I prefer proper adjustment. I don't like the excessive rear camber on a street car

We have real racecars, those get crazy suspension

Apparently I just bought Austin's TC Kline Racing coilovers; luckily we are friends with TC so he will probably rebuild it for me cheap

I got tired of scraping my bumper at the bottom of my driveway; I ordered the Koni Special Active/Eibach kit.

How much space is there between the shock body and the bump stops on the front? Did you have to cut the bump stops? And which bump stops did you use? I'm looking at going Eibach/Special Active as well.

Wow the h&r race springs are much shorter then the sport springs.

I don't think that's a very good indicator. My stock springs were shorter than my H&R sports, but once on the car the H&R were lower.

The Koni SA’s are the most comfortable by far. The TCK/Koni yellow were both good handling, but just too hard for regular street use

Stock bump stops, no cutting. I didn’t measure how much gap there is
