Houston would be an easy trip for me. I'm only about 4 hours away. I would be interested.

4 hours for me as well. Definitely interested.

Burns and Virgie's both look like shack style BBQ with limited seating. Goode has three locations and a bigger selection of meats. My guess is that Goode also has a parking lot big enough for all of us to bring our cars.

From the Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ in Texas:

HOUSTON
Burns Bar-B-Que Cooking and Catering

Menu surprise: Extremely hot hot links. Seriously.

There’s always a line at this clapboard take-out shack. Plump, pink pork ribs, cooked over post oak in a steel pit for two and a half hours, were irresistible. Smoky brisket was fall-apart tender. Commercially made beef-and-pork links tasted decidedly uncommercial. The sauce was tangy, good for dipping ribs and links. The sole sides were mustardy potato salad and saucy beans, both made with care. JM

Rating: 4.75/5.

Virgie’s Bar-B-Que

Notable decor: Walls sanctified with religious iconography.

Three-plus years ago, Adrian Hands-borough converted the neighborhood convenience store his mom, Virgie, ran for 35 years and began cooking over oak and pecan in two small barrels. His brisket, only a tad fatty, smokes for ten to fourteen hours; we could cut ours with a plastic fork. Well-seasoned pork ribs boasted a generous meat-fat ratio, and beef sausage came on slow but strong. The thick, snappy sauce is sweetened with molasses. Host and dining room were both cheery and inviting. JM

Rating: 4.25/5.

Ooh, this is sounding good. If you guys have this go down sometime in May or July I'll have just moved to San Antonio & could potentially make the trip!

Crap, I meant May or June; I'll be in CO for training in July.

I guess that means we'll just have to have another g2g a bit later on in the year!

Heh, good idea: I should be (provisionally) available most weekends in May or June (got it right that time).

i know Bryce would be in. We just need some of the Austin folk to commit, then we'd have a decent group!

i have a meet that i'm setting up (it's honda and acura, with some BMW's). wes, text me if you're interested. it will be in west houston, near hwy 6 and i-10, on dec. 8th. here's a thread from another website. most of my friends no longer have acura's, we just like cars and we get together once in a while to bs and have fun. here's the thread:
