Had a general coding question: If I have a full BMW software suite, is PA Soft still needed, or recommended?

If you want to modify the speedo, temp stuff you will need it. Outside that, you don't need it.

I thought we had a thread on that and that it should be linked here. (I meant add, not fix)

So I really want to do the heated seat, temp gauge, and speedometer coding on my e53... but my EEPROM is totally different. Has anyone heard of it being done? I have searched high and low with no luck.

Edit: 2002 with M54 so I thought it might be similar to the e46.

Have you joined xoutpost yet? There used to be a couple of guys in the e53 forum that knew the coding really well.... not sure if they are still on there as it's been a few years since I posted there but it's worth a try... FYI, the e53 is related to the e39 more so than any other model...

Also, I used DIS on both the e53 and the e46 for testing and and calibration. I imagine some of the other tools in the standard GT1 software suite selling on eBay would work on the e53 as well. They are both from the same generation and that suite pretty much covers all of them from that era IIRC.
Like I said earlier, the E53 shares a lot of its electronics with the e39. Even some of the suspension parts are very similar

Maybe you can check a couple of e39 forums...

I recently had to help a friend update his GT1 laptop to do KCAN/DCAN so I ended up finding that.

I just updated to ISTA 4.05. The database is 5/2017. Current enough!

I updated the 1st post with another source. Forgot MHHAuto is a paid forum. They have a lot of good items here like ISTA/D 3.08.21 (Nov 2017 update)
