has anyone used this kit or any other upgrades of any kind? the pics look good and all but i would like to get thoughts and opinions too. will resistors be needed and is it really worth it? the interior lights now are bright but i like that clear blue color so i'm just wondering if its a big thing or not.

thanks all!

I have a set for my 335. I'm waiting for Khoa to install them for me. Haha.

I bought the kit from Khoalty and installed the entire thing in about 20 minutes over at David's house in January. It comes with everything you need and resisters are not necessary. Looks awesome too. I would recommend this product all day long.

Yeah, it took 20 minutes only because we had a few cocktails first. It was easy. And looks great. Especially on the darker color exterior cars....

Haha yeah, being sober would have prolly helped some.

The C pillars were by far the hardest part. They took about 15 of the 20 minutes.

Can anyone post before/after pics of what the lighting looks like?

I know Khoa has some pictures some where. I have seen the before and after. It's night and day. If someone has some pictures, please post them up.

I kind of wish the LEDs had a more "soft" light to them though. They remind me of the fluorescent lighting at work which really hurts my eyes. Melikes the OEM lighting...
How is it on the eyes? Pics usually don't do a product justice.

Ok. Fine. I'll order them :)

Khoa has these lights in both of his cars. One thing I know about Khoa: he does not put anything on his car that he does not like. That doesn't answer your question, though: how are these on his eyes? I will see what he says about that, too.

I like the way they look. They aren't bright enough to be annoying or painful. They are a whitish blue color. Very pleasant, creating a nice mood and ambience.

The lights are soft and almost as bright. We carry white leds now whereas others are carrying the blueish white. We used to carry the blueish white until many were asking for the white white color. If you want extreme bright with panels and many leds we can offer those but those tend to be way too bright and blind you.

i've seen the after pictures on Khoalty's website and they look good! but i guess that maybe at the next Mafia Gathering, i can see some applications in person.

I'm feeling jealous, Keith. You see something you like, you order.
I'm stuck here still trying to fix crap that's wrong with the car. :(

No mods 'till all is taken care of....... :crying

Trust me-- the wife is starting to notice the Fedex truck showing up every day. My ordering days are numbered, lol.

Opposite problem here... :rofl

There was a point where the UPS guy was making multiple trips to my house per week just to get me parts for the E30. He now knows -- and remembers-- me by name, despite not having ordered stuff for a while (before the cooling parts this past week). lol

The only limiting factor here is the amount of coach purses you can buy. If every few deliveries is one fer her, she'll be happy! (Until u have to declare bankruptcy, which may anger her once again..) :)

But Bankruptcy is inevitable, so you might as well splurge while you can. :biggrin

Do the c-pillar lights need to be taken apart, or do the LEDs fit from the back without any problem, once the housing is out?

Just undo c pillar, then unplug light.

I don't remember having to take anything apart. Iirc, everything fit without a problem.

I'm very happy with this kit. I've had them in for about 8 months now. Love the look and have had zero issues.

Droid X. Forum Runner. Use it.

Ah - Thanks.
So did anyone need resistors?

should I do this? huh, huh? :)

kayger12
10-09-2011, 07:47 AM
I did not. In a few cases, the lights initially didn't light up. Something to do with there not being enough resistance. I simply removed and replaced a few times until it worked. Only happened with two of the bulbs for me.

No real rhyme or reason, just had to be patient.

Once they started working though, I've never had a problem since.

Might have been polarity - LEDs are polarized - perhaps turning them 180* around just aligned it correctly...

Ahh-- didn't know that. That might be it.

I don't think they have to go in a certain way.

I'm probably gonna buy this and just change all of the halogen's to LED's (maybe not the H7's, or 9006's... thinking about projectors) but a few questions first...

which version? plug & play, 12 led or 18 led? how blinding is the 18? (also, you can code the interior lights not to come on when you open the door, but can you code it so just the dome light doesn't come on and the rest do?)

for the exterior bulbs, which one would i get for my turn signal in front?
http://www.khoalty.com/halogen-led-bulbs/e46-led-turn-signal-bulb.html
the resistor needs to be ordered separate and is the link per resistor or for a pair?
http://www.khoalty.com/halogen-led-bulbs/e46-turn-signal-resistor.html

the reverse lights, they are sold each so i need two. I would also have to order the 2 resistors separate?
http://www.khoalty.com/halogen-led-bulbs/e46-led-reverse-light.html

what do you get for the license plate?

I have the set from Khoa they are real nice and pretty.. i used two for my lience plate cuz I'm slick like that, works perfect, no problems and looks nice.. just not too strong only complain. (the two that belonged when i open the mirrors on that thing on the top that block the sun from getting into my eyes..)
