First car project I have done. Here is the new edition for summer (19" VMR v710). My dad and I will do the stud conversion later this week and I'll post those pictures with the burnt blue studs. Any suggestions on whether I should keep the carbon fiber silver and black emblems or go back to the blue and white?

I love those wheels! Either wheel cap will work. The CF one looks good.

Hey Brett! Good to have you aboard. I vote for a return to the Bavarian colors. Jon's wheels are making the rounds. They look great on your car!

I'm now shopping for rims after seeing those pics....Thanks! :eyetwitch

What length of studs are you running?

BCS_ZHP
05-25-2014, 02:15 AM
Gary, studs are 75mm from BW, they are a couple mm inside the Muteski (sp?) extended blue lugs. Either go to the 84/85mm studs or the regular vs. extended lugs if you want the end of the stud to extend past the lug itself

Brett gave me a ride in his ZHP this evening. I forgot what the stock ZHP exhaust sounded like. His car is so clean!!! I enjoyed the ride :)

I also noticed his instrument cluster and saw some carbon fiber goodness :thumbsup

It's definitely low, maybe a tad too low as it's a pita to go in & out of the driveway. The boys took it for a short drive last night and said they thought they heard a slight rub on the right front, I'll investigate later this morning.

Stuart, I had to raise to level the car, it's raised up the thickness of the spanner wrench, so only about 3/16" on one side and slightly less on the other. Also tuned in a little more ride comfort, dropped from position 10 to setting 8 -- 10 was jarring on our non-smooth NVA roads. Ground to lip of fenders height is 24.5" in front and 25" in rear, for the rake. Got a 4-wheel alignment yesterday, it's -1.5 to -1.8 camber on all four corners, caster is outside the spec a little, everything else was dead on, the car tracks perfectly straight, feels great. Didn't have time to take it to a twisty road yet, I went to work yesterday following the alignment and didn't get home until after dark.

the caster is adjustable by loosening the three upper strut bolts and sliding the strut around front to rear...then, for racing you can go further advanced with the four allen screws on the plate surface of the camber plate

Thought I'd bump Brett's thread since he never comes around here. He is planning to sell his car this summer when he starts college, he doesn't want to see the car get beat up in college parking lots, doesn't want it to sit, he'd rather sell and invest his money elsewhere (started his mutual fund last summer at 17 y.o.). So we're still debating whether to sell it as it currently sits modded or to revert to almost stock (suspension, wheels, air box, lack of strut brace, no CF rear valance, hood/trunk/wheel roundels, etc. -- we have all of those stock parts here in storage) and then sell those parts separately. I rarely drive my old car but did last week, it remains the tightest ZHP I've ever driven bar none and still puts a big smile on my face. I drove the e90 today too and prefer this ZHP by a long shot. I know a couple of members are interested in the PSS-10 C/Os, VMR-710s remain popular, the GruppeM CAI & BMW Performance Strut brace are easy sells, same for the CF rear valance so we're not too worried if someone wants this car in stock configuration. About the only thing we can't revert back to stock is the exhaust, it has an OBX exhaust which adds a little more bass but not too much more than stock.

Will try to get Daniel to take some current pics soon.

Curious what is the asking price for the ZHP as is? Not put back to stock. How many miles? If I didn't already but my ///M I would buy his car in a heart beat! [emoji2]

Not being sold yet, Brett graduates from high school in June (within a cat's whisker of a 4.0 GPA), let him reap the rewards of that for a bit and continue to drive/enjoy her thru mid-summer. Probably around the end of July/beginning of August, we'll list her for sale.

This SGM currently sits at 87K miles, I suspect it'll be at about 90K when we sell. I have the OEM intake boots, F-connector, & little vacuum hose sitting in the garage to refresh the intake side one weekend, lots of PM has been done over our 2.5+ years of ownership (cooling system, tensioners/pulleys/belts, VCG, OFHG, spark plugs, filters, fluid changes, brakes), oil changed every 5K, it is a turnkey worry-free ride. I bought this car on Labor Day weekend 2012, think it had 68K miles at the time, I first saw it more than a year earlier when it had less than 50K, it took me that long to get it away from the PO. I have 2 folders full of everything that's ever been done to or with the car, she spent a couple of years north of the border as a Canadian summer ride which is part of the reason for the low mileage, no accidents ever but the rear bumper was re-sprayed due to a parking lot scrape.

Pricing is the question, what will I ask, it's something I'll ponder more over the next couple of months. Where my mind currently sits is $17.5K as it sits and including all the stock parts I have. If someone wanted it stock, I'm currently thinking $14.5K as I'm fairly sure I can recoup $3K for the major removed mods (PSS-10s, VMR-710s w/tires, BMW Perf CF strut brace, GruppeM CAI, CF rear valence). Anywhere in between those two points and we'd adjust the price accordingly. And at this point, my thinking is I'll let the next owner/caretaker decide this ZHP's configuration, modded as-is or stock. I'll leave it as-is when we list it for sale and have them tell me which mods they want or not (so no, I'm not parting out any mods before the car is sold).

I believe this car is spoken for and as it is currently configured. Received a call yesterday from the person who currently owns my wife's old IR ZHP conv and he said he wants it for his daughter. He told me he'll wire the money later this month and then arrange to pick it up sometime in June or July. If any mod parts or stock parts should become available after the transaction is completed, then I'll list them here but at present he wants it all.

BCS_ZHP

So the sparkling graphite is gone, she departed yesterday to go garage in NH next to my wife's old IR ZHP conv. She departed as she was configured with VMRs, PSS-10s, etc., plus the stock parts, the new owner loved her at first sight. He contacted me during his drive back and loved her even more.

It's a weird feeling, no ZHP in the stable after almost 5 years of continuous & multiple ZHP ownership (and 7+ years of continuous e46 ownership) but I'll figure it out. Contacted the guy that bought my old e46 wagon yesterday, he's not ready to sell yet, damn it. Guess I'm going to have to concentrate on yard work now that there's no e46 to tend to, well there's the 330xi 6MT but I'm planning to sell that this summer.
