BavAuto's Koni 1140 Shock and H&R Spring Kit

First off, I just wanted to let everyone know that Koni is having a 25% off sale on their shock kits. You can buy straight from their site - the 1140 kit is around $790 I think, retail is around $1,000.

Anyways, I found the exact same product on BavAuto's site after price hunting and they offered it at around $740 shipped.

I placed my order, got an automated confirmation email. But the very next day, I got another email saying it was out of stock, and that I'd be notified when they would get more, whenever that may be. Around 2 weeks....

I had read reviews on them already saying that some people have placed orders under the pretense that their items are in stock, only to find out after they've placed the order that they actually are not, and would have to wait. Guess it wasn't a one-time thing.

I wanted a refund right away and to their credit, they responded and posted it the very next day.

The search continues....

How do you like it? I want to go a little lower and wouldn't mind rolling the fenders if it's necessary but Google didn't show me any results/pics of that particular kit on a ZHP, which is already a little lower from the factory vs. a standard 330.

I'm wondering about the ride height too. I'm running 255's on all four corners with stock suspension. With the extra tire width i wonder if the koni kit would cause things to start rubbing.

Completely forgot, the shocks are replaced so duh....both would be the same. Hehe...>
Can't wait. Product page says it allows for lowering up to 1.5 inches. I can definitely do without the gap.

I just installed Koni yellows and H&R Sport springs on my ZHP about two weeks ago, but not sure if the combined package you ordered is the same drop. Personally my car has a touch too much forward rake for my taste, but I can remedy it by adding an adjustable camber plate. Ride quality is awesome, and no more body roll! Also FWIW, Bavauto is a top tier parts supplier in my opinion (been a customer since' 97), and they usually have parts in stock when I order from them. Actually my Koni yellows did come from them, but I suspect that the shock value sale pricing has had them shipping a lot of Koni shocks lately. Brett, a close-up pic would be great. Curious to see how big of a gap is still left.

My rear tires rub the inner fender lining sometimes going up driveways and I'm not even on 19-in. wheels; replaced the stock style 135s with 18-in. Avant Garde M359s.
With this kit, I'm aiming to lower it and get rid of the gaps, but will definitely have the fenders rolled. The rear at least, since they rub as-is already.

What tire sizes are you running, front and rear?

Tires are actually stock sizes, so 225/40-18 & 255/35-18. Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus if that matters, and no rubbing as of yet after about 500 miles, some of them spirited.

It looks like for vehicles *without* the sport suspension the 1140 kit comes with H&R spring #29485, which provides a 1.5" drop in the front. For vehicles with the sport suspension (e.g. the ZHP), the 1140 kit comes with H&R spring #29484, which provides a 0.75" drop in the front.

Can anyone verify the part number on their springs? With 255's in the front, I'm not sure my car can handle a 1.5" drop, but I'd be comfortable with a 0.75" inch drop.

I e-mailed Koni. They write:

"The Kit comes with the H&R sport lowering springs. Which on cars with factory no sport suspension lovers the cars approx. 1.4''. Being that the factory sport suspension is already slightly lowered the H&R will only lower it an approximate .75'' compared to your factory sport ride height, and not the full 1.4'' over the no sport ride height."

This confirms my research.

I'm assuming everyone installed the strut and shock reinforcement kit (http://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-strut-shock-mount-reinforcement-plate-kit-e46-e46reinforcementkit) when they installed the Koni sport kit. Did you also replace your rear shock mounts? If so, did you go with oem, Meyle HD, JT Designs (http://www.fcpeuro.com/BMW-parts/330i/Shock-Mount/?year=2004&m=20&e=180&pt[]=307172014&pt[]=307172122), or Rogue Engineering (http://www.rogueengineering.com/rogue/S_BUSH/RSM.html)?

After about 6,000 miles, the drop is definitely not an inch and a half. If it had been, my lip would be scraping the ground even on flat pavement haha
I replaced all the shock mounts with OEM parts.
