My power mirrors just started moving whenever they want and when I try to adjust them they go full throw in whatever direction I am trying to move them. I figured the only thing that is common to both driver and passenger sides is the switch so I replaced it, but that didn't fix it. Any suggestions?

Might want to get in touch with your local priest/exorcism specialist.

Every now and then I have this problem. I think it could be a short in the ribbon cable.

I was casually driving down I95 and I noticed my mirror moving on its own. When I went to adjust it it would move to where I wanted it to...and then when I lifted my hand from the switch it just started panning left again...WTF?

Subbed for results.

Happens to me too sometimes. The ribbon cable is absolute trash.

I hear it could be the GM5.

Anyone know where I can pick up a ribbon cable? What do they run?

Have to replace entire motor.

I patched mine up by sanding the ribbon to reveal the copper, and soldering an actual wire to it. Works fine, but very hacky. LOL

I've been researching this... Gotta fix both of mine... Seems this is the preferred method. Some suggest using conductive epoxy after exposing the traces... I haven't looked for any of that yet.

Yeah, the soldering method is sketchy. Honestly the proper way would be to replace the entire wiring with real wires and proper connectors, but it's much more complicated. Mine failed again and I'm thinking of going the more complicated route this time around.
