Bimmerfest East 2014 sponsored by Turner Motorsport is back at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, Maryland on August 2, 2014! This east coast has quickly been catching up to the west coast for BMW enthusiasts coming out to the show and we need your help to make the event even bigger. That is what's going to happen. The only way group parking can be arranged is if the group rolls in together. Stragglers will have to park elsewhere unless they can find a spot nearby.

Works for me. Hopefully not quite as early as before...I'm thinking 630-7? Should put us up there around 730-8, leaves plenty of time to eat and "kibitz" a bit and roll over there.

Shawn, I'm a maybe. Sending wife & daughter to SoCal for Surf soccer tourney that weekend, might request some SoCal Mafia as my daughter's rooting section plus make mama feel like she never left home with Bimmerheads (like her husband & sons) around. Also sending Brettj2a to Idaho that weekend to go to his cousin's lake house, so it'll all depend on what my airport transport duties are for Saturday. And Mason, yes, I believe so. The conference went very well, basically asked me questions about the car and what my experience with it has been like. It wasn't too hard to convey my elation, from first picking her up in Knoxville, the first drive back, working on her with Bruce and Shawn, meeting everyone at the reunion, the rally, people offering me checks for her at C&C meets, the autocross school, road trips with the (other) gf, etc, etc. Let's just say at the end the fellow interviewing exclaimed, "this is EXACTLY what we are looking for."

That said, I don't want to get too excited as he said I will find out if I am "officially" in the film by Wednesday. Regardless of how it turns out, I'm still looking forward to seeing everyone again and a great day! :thumbup

That's awesome Daniel I hope the car gets some good screen time in the movie! Also I'm sure you wouldn't mind if I took that go pro off your hand cause it definitely doesn't fit in with all the other high quality photography equipment. It's like a little toy compared to your 5D.:biggrin

Just an fyi maybe you guys can meet us in College Park after Arlington.... This is from Bimmer Alliance group that took a lot of pictures from the road last year

Caravan, parking lot food, and other details to be posted as planned.

Caravan Details:

**When leaving from Ikea (both College Park and Ikea) let's use both exits. I'll post up pictures on exit locations in here and on Bimmer Alliance main page.**

Doors open at 10:00am. Caravan will leave CP Ikea at *8:30am* arriving at White Marsh by 9:30am. Leave White Marsh at 9:45 am to arrive at the gates at 10:15-10:30 am.

Remember, $20 to get in per BMW. Lead cars are instructed to stay around 75 - 80 mph on the way up. If you are straggling behind, catch up or make your own group. Lead cars are instructed to keep and maintain time. If you get left behind, keep calm, and drive on. Meet us at the next location.

There will be cars that will be video taping and photographing our drive up there as a group. If you see an indication on the car to show it's a camera car, be sure to let it through. Lead cars and sweeper cars will be responsible for maintaining speed and keeping everyone together.

Instructions for trip:
- Top speed of the CRUISE: 80 mph. If you get separated some how, you can catch up or just meet us at the next stopping point.
**When leaving College Park Ikea, we will utilize BOTH exits. Half the group should exit out of Ikea Center Boulevard while the other group will exit the parking lot via Ikea Way. This will provide an easy flow of traffic to get us all out of the CP Ikea location and on to 495 to 95 smoothly.
- 10 miles from CP Ikea: we may have some cars join us from the Maryland Rest Area. If you see any cars joining us from there, please make sure to let them in to the caravan.
- Stay on 95 to go through the Ft. McHenry Tunnel. Be sure to have your ezpasses or cash available for you to pay toll to go through the tunnel.
- Arriving at White Marsh Ikea: Exit 67B. First Left on to Honeygo Blvd. and Right on Campbell.
- When leaving White Marsh Ikea, we will utilize two exits from there. Half the group should exit right of Ikea parking lot, going around Ikea and taking a right on to Honeygo Boulevard. The other group should exit left and exit the same way as they entered the Ikea parking area. This will provide a faster exit out of the Ikea parking area and easier flow to traffic to get us all back on to 95 smoothly.
- Arriving at Aberdeen: Take Exit 85 for MD 22. Take a left at the light and cross over 95. Right on Long Drive. Take care and drive slow on this road. Will be a lot of police activity as we get closer and closer to the stadium. Remember, it's $20/car to park in the lot. Be sure to bring cash for entrance fee, swag, and what not.

- snacks and water (it'll be a hot day) - if you want to bring something to share, you are more than welcome to do so.

I tried to meet up with you guys last year but ended up finding these guys at the Ikea, this has been one of my favorite caravans to date, they had a guy on a bike filming and guys hanging out of cars just to get some shots on the road, really organized, but if you guys decided not to join, I'll see you guys at the show!

(BTW, the Pentagon Police get a bit nasty about taking pictures of the 5-sided building. We will be on the other side of the highway and there isn't usually much activity on that side, but it is still DoD property. Haha yea they were identical twins...identical twins are luck, non identical can run in families. Male identical twins are more uncommon.

Immediately thought of this guy (http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?6105) given the painted diffuser. But he sold the car later that year. Possibly the person who bought it from him.

^^^ Yeah that happened, a couple of us were right there when it did.

To be honest, you shouldn't do burnouts at events like this. Everyone with enough respect for their cars and others will agree. This is not a type of behavior that this forum displays or accepts.

With that being said, there were only two burnouts this year; the above mentioned burnout was the second one. At all of the other bimmerfest east events, and I've been to all of them, there were a ton of burnouts. The first event in 2011 had almost every car leaving the event do a burnout or at least redline first gear. The following events had people doing burnouts or drifts in the back of the lot where there weren't cars or people. My point being that this year was a lot more calm and safe than the other ones, and due to one specific burnout a lot of people are freaking out about it.

The guy who did the first burnout got the cops attention, and the guy in the E30 took the heat because he decided it was a good idea to do a burnout with the cop about 50 yards away. Obviously there was a huge crowd around the car and when the cop tried to do something about it, he had to push away a bunch of people who wanted to watch. So then his backup rolls in who just happens to be this 110lbs 70 year old female cop. I don't blame the female cop for pepper spraying a couple people, she told them to get back, and as old and frail as she was, I would have been afraid too. It was at the end of the event so by the time she called an "all-in" the show was over. Then they just started telling people it was private property and everyone at the event had to leave.

Also that cop that went after the E30 was a giant dickface even before the event started. Sitting in traffic coming in from the access road I tried calling Justin who was directly in front of me. My phone was on speaker on my lap, and the cop yells at me through his loudspeaker "Put the phone down!". Mind you cars weren't moving and I was completely stopped.


TL;DR - Two guys did burnouts and mob mentality interfered with dickface cop doing his job at the least reckless bimmerfest east event yet. Everyone mad.

The fact that they were forcing everyone to leave at the same time made it twenty times worse.

I was changing Mason's belts, and all of a sudden there's a mushroom cloud of tire smoke towards the end of the lot. It was pretty crazy.

It was interesting, basically just some questions geared toward the "BMW experience" for example, "Would you rather spend money on your BMW or your girlfriend?“ Which was a loaded question with Erin standing right there...fortunately there were some puppies for distraction ;)

"Would you have quality family time or go for a drive in your BMW?" My answer, "I would rather have quality family time IN my BMW on that drive"

Couple other similar questions like that. They said to look for the interview on BMW social media within the next few weeks.

Lol yup. And I had applied for the "M initiation" video, which was a video they shot the day before Bimmerfest with the M4 driving through a track lined with BMW's. I didn't get a part in that but the interview was scheduled by the same group with a bunch of other folks to use as shorts.
