Recently picked up an escort smart radar from Groupon for $199 and wanted a stealthy install with power coming from the Mirror. The self install wires that came with the unit were pretty thin and wouldn't retain a connection as soon as you hit a pot hole so I ordered a 9" Micro Mirrortap wires from Mirrortap.com (In retrospect I could have welded a small piece of sewing needle to the wires that came with the radar detector but I am lazy and felt it was worth the price to save me about an hour. Plus the guys at mirrortap are awesome as I first ordered the standard wire based on their online guide for the BMW, and they sent me the micro as a replacement for free. Either way if you are going to connect via rain sensor wires that I used (switched on/off with the car) you want the Micro .050" Tap.
Once I had the right wire everything went in extremely quick. Remove the 2 side covers from the mirror mount, pull the rain sensor wire connector out. Tap the first & Second wires (purple = positive brown=ground) , plug the connector back into the rain sensor, zip tie the cable so it will not pull out and is secure. route the wire out the top and put the plastic back on. Plug in your radar detector and pray it all works. Rain sensor works fine still as well. then use the heavy duty double stick tape to mount the radar mount on your windshield and mount the display on your mirror where ever you like.
Overall it is as good as or better than my passport 8500 and it is a very nice stealth mount once I put my EZPass back up if I black out the display no one knows it is there.

Ps I know my mirror isn't auto dimming, don't care it is a nice light tint all of the time and I find it perfect. Got lucky within breaking halfway point.

I was about to say, your mirror looks like its either dying and you blocked off the photoresistor on the bottom of the mirror if it was still working.

No full dark is fine all the time as long as it is not half way or something.

The app sucks so if you want GPS functionality you have to use the app and it requires data access to work. The have had it on groupon more than 3 times but currently not available. Keep an eye out for it.
They do have a solo s2 roadless though for cheap

I run a redline and it is by far the best detector I've owned to this date

Past:
8500
8500 x50
9500ix

OP - Clean install, I like it!

Well I just ordered one of those Android Head units for my car so I am going to need to switch to the android specific version of this unit, Anyone with an IPhone want to buy the android model and swap with me on E-Bay? Apparently if you are looking for one of these, it appears a lot of people bought them and are reselling them on E-bay at about $20 more.

Just stumbled upon this and remembered some people were on here looking for this radar detector. the coupon code below gets you $70 off the price so it is a heck of a good radar detector for less than $200.
