View Full Version : AUX and Android Problems???

Since putting in an OEM AUX in my car I've been having this strange issue. When listening to music with my GS2 and charging it at the same time, the radio spontaneously switches to the radio stations. From here I cannot go back to AUX until I turn off the car audio and disconnect the phone. This only happens when my phone is being charged. I thought I wouldn't have to worry about this after getting my GS5, but the same problem still occurs. Has anyone else had this happen?

HOW THE HELL DOES THE PHONE CHARGING MESS WITH MY RADIO?

I had an issue on mine with my iphone but it seemed to be more related to the amount of time it was plugged in vs. charging state. Someone here told me I needed this
Ground Loop Noise Isolator

I never tried it before I sold her. I put the aux jack in Colin's car with a Nav HU and he's never had a problem. Strange.

I have also had this problem. It has only happened once on a long car ride (2.5 hours). One moment I was listening to Pandora, the next moment I was listening to the local country station.

I was worried the connection on the back of the radio unit came loose and I was going to have to take it all apart again.

I haven't had the problem since, but then again I very rarely take the ZHP on road trips.

Hey man, don't knock it till you tried it! I haven't come across one possessed iPhone. As of today, I've come across exactly one possessed android phone. Clearly we have a winner. :)

I have exactly 5 iPhone 5S's on my account, in addition to a couple of 5's. I know the difference between android and iPhone.

Still sticking with Samsung.

Hmmm, for me I can sometimes get away with an hour without it occurring, but other times I can't listen to my music for more than a few seconds. It's so god damn strange how it just stops happening when I unplug my phone from the mini usb. :scratchinghead

I did a little research and I'm pretty sure you just need a ground loop isolator. Seems to be a really common problem with the business units.

I soldered in AUX to my OEM nav. Just cut the end off an AUX cable and soldered in. I believe the problem across the board is it needs a resistor. With my car I cannot charge and listen to AUX at all. It immediately goes to radio. No matter what kind of phone.

This is not a phone specific problem. As long as the phone is plugged into a charger, it will cause a ground loop. The phone shares the same ground for the power as the headphone jack ground. There is interference and the AUX thinks that there is an open since ground is no longer showing 0 volts. In order to fix this you need a ground loop isolator to prevent the ground on the headphone jack to show a voltage. The GLI also fixes humming noises in audio equipment when charging your device and using the AUX.

I use a ground loop isolator and have no issues with it going back to radio with an iphone or android. :)

I am using this. I want to actually solder this in-line to the aux behind the dash so I don't need to see it. Maybe when I have time.
