View Full Version : Am I crazy for wanting ambers?

I kept the ambers on my IR ZHP, but always appreciated the clears on this OB. Now that I have the OB, I appreciate ambers on pretty much any shade of blue. Where do I get ambers if I want them?

Am I nuts?

Ok glad to see I'm not losing it. Any good sources for OEM ambers?

You know, I think my taste is changing.

5 years ago I wouldn't have considered changing from RC to Amber on a car that already had the RC. I wouldn't have considered keeping wood trim. I wouldn't have considered keeping the chrome trim. I wouldn't have considered a blue car in general. Now, I like all of it.

WTF is happening to me?

One thing I have not learned to like: leather interior or fake leather interior. If I see an Alcantara coupe interior (seats and all) for sale it will be difficult to pass up.

I actually prefer the amber on my black car. Gives a little color to the car.

I would either purchase brand new OEM LED tails from the dealer or thebmwpartstore.com

I like ambers too. Got the itch once, but it has passed.

Huge fan of ambers, esp. on the darker colors.

Posting a WTB on E46F is guaranteed to get a few (very cheap) leads as people swap to clears way more than the other way around.

Definitely echo your sentiments about alcantara. What a great interior.

Personally it's always been clears but I definitely see the appeal on blue, green or black!

I have a set of ambers. Cost of shipping and it's yours. Fits facelift 330i's, of course.

His is a pre-facelift coupe...

Marc, what on earth happened to your 135is?????

Yea, nothing wrong. Some clear corners just don't match well and stand out too much. Ambers are perfectly fine.

My car came with blacked out corners (see sig) but I switched to OEM Euro clears. They're decent but ambers were my second choice.

Did some research and 2002 models came with these clears all around. I can put on the amber non-led tails but would also have to change the reverse light housing to the red surround with the white tail instead of the stepped white/red. Pricey to get the actual parts, but as someone said, lots on offer at fanatics. I'll keep checking them out.

BP - 135is is still in the family, but down in FL with my father. It was a fun 2 years, but I've come to realize the E46 is the best all around car there possibly can be (for me). Plus no payment on this car helps me be able to find a house up near where I work, which is $$$.

I understand. But, while on the topic of ambers, figured I'd mention it for anyone else that might need it for their ZHP.

Mine was born with RCR so never gave ambers a 2nd thought. Don't mind them though. Rock it if you want it. :)

Amber on black is awesome. You know you're thinking about it.

LOL, not really. Found these on e46f. EDIT: Oh shoot, it's a sedan, you have a coupe.

No plans to change out my ambers on my Jet Black. I love the contrast.

Colors I'd rock ambers on without question (meaning not having to rack my brain on deciding between clear or amber):
* Oxford Green
* Jet/Sapphire Black
* Orient Blue
* Mystic Blue
* Monaco Blue

Pretty much every color in the ZHP color palette looks good with clears, but there are some colors that the clears look superior on IMO. But, the above colors exceptionally stand out with ambers, IMO.

Colors that I personally feel clears look superior on:

* Imola Red
* Titanium Silver
* Sparkling Graphite (never offered on a sedan so always had clears anyway)

Toss-up between clears or ambers (wouldn't be able to decide):
* Alpine White
* Silver Grey

I am, for the most part, a contrast whore...

Only thing holding me back now is the trunk light. On my car it's half white half red. They make one that is all red with just a white reverse light. Looks better with the amber but not sure if it's compatible to my car.

The contrast makes sense. For me, I like the smooth, subtle black sleekness, laying await in the shadows....
