Figured I'd give this plastidip a shot today to paint my window trim black. Overall it was pretty easy just a matter of taping it off and watching over spray. I'm going to have to do drivers side again due to getting a little bit on the rubber seal of the door so when I opened it pulled some of it off the trim. Mistakes on my part not included I think it went rather well. Here's a pic of setup I'll take a lighted pic of the finished look here in a little bit.

I had a friend who plastidipped her wheels, they turned out surprisingly well. I'd be curious to see how long it lasts.

I've heard they last a good while as long as you put a couple coats down. I'll probably add a couple more later on if I like it.

Think it lasts about 3 years. I been wanting to do the same. Let me know how it turns out.

Will do. Wish I had done about three coats but time was short and ended up doing some of it in the dark. I'll take some pictures tomorrow and post them up. It dries flat black but they do make a glossifier if dinner like the matte.

Wouldn't be difficult at all to replace either from what I've heard as long as it's laid fairly thick.

Did my friends wheels with black, then layered with the gold metalizer. Very nice color and quality. Very pleased

I wish they had more selection in my area. Just black, white, blue, orange, red and the glossifier.

The glossifier makes it look cheap, IMO. Nothing beats actual paint with clearcoat.

I'd say leave it flat PlastiDip black and see how it holds up. The thicker the better... nice thick coats is best with PD as long as it doesn't run.

Sweet thanks for the tips. I hadn't had experience with the glossifier yet so couldn't say for sure how well it worked.

It isn't as glossy as a standard clearcoat is. If anything, it gives the matte PlastiDip a little bit of a shine, as though it was greasy or something. Kind of like when you see some cars on the road that have had an obvious bumper respray.

Haha nice description thanks for the heads up! :thumbsup

Best advice I can give is, try it out! If anything, it's removable if you don't like it. :)

Hey that's not bad at all, nice! That is without the gloss correct? I wonder how this would turn out on faded trim.

Correct no gloss. That's a good question... I'd imagine it would adhere well but the texture of the material once it dries is rubbery so once it got dirty it may be difficult to get clean again without damaging the coating. Are you talking about the bump trim on the doors and bumpers?

That looks really good :)

I love this stuff. Attached is a video I made after restoring the trim on my 3000gt with it. If you're looking for more try Dipyourcar.com ... They sell full kits for pretty much whatever you want to do to your car. For wheels and trim 6 coats is the normal.

Good point on the cleaning part. My friend had did some cleaning trouble with her wheels. I was thinking primarily about the black trim strips on the doors and bumpers. I imagine it wouldn't adhere very well to door rubber.

If you apply this properly and use 6-8 coats for trim you can power wash it over and over and it never has any issues. Just don't get any wheel cleaner or WD40 on it.

I once dipped all of my bumper and door trim. Never again.
That crap starting peeling off after too many rocks and other road debris hit it.
