Just bought a MY 2006 (manufacturing 09/2005) Silver Grey ZHP, automatic, with 62,000 miles on it 3 weeks ago. I bought it sight unseen and had it shipped from Texas as I knew exactly what I wanted.

I already did a bunch of work to it ---- entire Inspection II service along with new plugs, fuel filter change, brake flush, new rotors, pads, tires all around.

Then I replaced the CCV since after about 5 DAYS of owning the car it began to billow with black smoke at startup! Boy did that surprise everyone at my little son's school when it did that. Took about 4-5 hours to replace that sucker, but now it runs like a charm.

Any ways, the car's so peppy it's now my daily driver and works real well in the southern California traffic with an auto. My other toy is a 911 993 targa, so that's when I absolutely NEED the manual!

Nice to meet you all -

Replacing the CCV after 5 days of owning it... sounds like you know your way around an engine bay ;)

Thanks again for all the welcomes. You guys are very supportive here. Hope I can lend my help to any members (new and old) as well.

Regarding the CCV ... it came on very quickly. After about 5 days of owning the car, the car began to burn smoke at start up. I didn't think much of it at first since being a longtime Porsche owner, we are used to this with our box-6 horizontal engines. But then it got more and more pronounced and then was burning a bit all the time. I couldn't believe it! After I replaced it, (fairly straight forward, just a PITA to get to) I was a bit surprised that such a cheap, plastic part caused all this problem. Afterwards, I had to go for a hard run to clean out the residual. Now she runs beautiful. It fixed the uneven idle as well.

I actually started to tinker with BMW's about 5-6 months ago when I borrowed my dad's 2000 323i when I was working on my 911. It seemed like there were so many things neglected on it (around 104,000 miles) that I started to repair it. I ended up spending around $2,000 on parts to repair PS, oil, coolant leaks, a complete inspection II service, flushed brake fluid, new VCG, oil filter housing gasket, deflection pulleys, transmission flush, fuel filter, front control arms (ball joints went bad and couldn't be replaced on these arms) and 4-wheel alignment. Wow, that's a lot. I did everything myself except for the tranny flush and alignment. Car runs beautiful now!

Sorry about the long note, but I was so impressed with this engine system that I decided within 6 months that I wanted one of my own. So I bought this ZHP 330Ci which I love. I put my two little boys in the back and they love it when I "make the car roar" with acceleration. Obviously, I don't drive crazy with them in the car, I just make it a little more fun!
