I finally decided to start on my progress/maintenance thread since I’ve been putting it off for so long. When I first bought this car, I told myself that I wasn’t going to mod at all for the first year with the exception of a few things. Well, I haven’t even made it to a year with her and she has a few mods on.

As some of you may remember, I originally had an IR ZHP slicktop when I joined but I sold that after owning it for 6 months. I bought it as. The only things I added were the Coby Wheel interior bits and the suede headliner

The very first mod I did was the Umnitza 6500k v2.5 angel eyes:
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c356/jonfuller8/Build%20thred/IMG_4284-1_zpsaa90fa2c.jpg (http://s31.photobucket.com/user/jonfuller8/media/Build%20thred/IMG_4284-1_zpsaa90fa2c.jpg.html)

Next came the yellow fogs and CF splitters from member CTD on e46fanatics
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c356/jonfuller8/Build%20thred/IMG_4897_zps80f475c1.jpg (http://s31.photobucket.com/user/jonfuller8/media/Build%20thred/IMG_4897_zps80f475c1.jpg.html)

I never realized how dirty the lenses really were until after the fogs and splitters, so new lenses came next!
Before:

I stopped modding for a little since I started flirting with the idea of getting into another car so she sat like this for a bit
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c356/jonfuller8/Build%20thred/DSC_2342_zps4cf49d06.jpg (http://s31.photobucket.com/user/jonfuller8/media/Build%20thred/DSC_2342_zps4cf49d06.jpg.html)

A few weeks go by and I got bored with how she looked so I ordered a sheet of black vinyl for the roof from Don Nguyen on e46f. The same week the vinyl came in, a square set of BBS CK's 18x8.5 et34 popped up on my local craigslist for cheap so I jumped on those. I ended up doing the vinyl myself which was pretty straight forward but a tad harder than I expected.

At this point, I decided that I'll be keeping the car so I started searching some more parts. First up were the coilovers. I went with BC BR's with 8/12kg spring rates after consulting with a few members on here about their set ups and reading many reviews. So far I have no complaints. I did the install myself with the help from a cousin. The fronts are about quater way down, the rears are at max height.

One day after school, I decided to go get my windows tinted since I was tired of the fishbowl look. I went with 30% all around and I have rear sunshades on both rear doors and rear window. I also swapped out the kidneys with the gloss black ones from ECS.

Next to get done were the brakes since the rear rotors were toast so I decided to just replace the fronts as well. I went with the Stoptech Cross-Drilled rotors & akebono pads along with Z4M FCAB's

Car really looks great. Especially like the BBS addition and feel that the contrast works quite well against the AW paint! Curious, did/do you plan to attack the headliner redo yourself, or do you have a shop that did it for you? (Need to do something with my E36 headliner soon which is starting to drop for the second time around...). Anyway, look forward to more progress and updates on your AW beast!

Thanks! I originally planned on doing the headliner myself but I haven't had much free time to get something like the headliner done. If I can get a solid weekend in then I'll DIY it, if not, I'll just have a shop do it. I was quoted $375 to do the headliner and all pillars in grey suede vs $100 or less for DIY.

Personally I think it's a PITA and a massive amount of time consumed doing all that yourself. For $375, I'd absolutely have the shop do it. Hell, it costs in that range just to buy new pillars...

If I'm running 235/40/18's squared with an 18x8.5 et 34 wheel, will I have any issues if I try to tuck the wheels a little in the front/rear?

Maintenance I've done since the last update:

108,xxx – Front airbag recalls
108,690 – Lower radiator hose
108,690 – Upper radiator hose
108,690 – Expansion Tank
108,690 – Coolant Flush
108,690 – Bimmerbrake headers (easily one of the best mods I've done)
108,690 – Dinan Strut tower bar
108,917 – OEM fuel pump

Tomorrow and Monday, I'll be doing the water pump, thermostat, aluminum pulley, oil change, motor mounts and tranny mounts. So all of the cooling system minus the radiator will be done. As for the package coming in Monday, it's something I've been hunting down for quite some time but I'll wait for that to arrive before I share :biggrin

Oh yeah, I found a set of R/C/R's a couple months back which some of you have seen if you follow me on instagram or on FB. Here are some pics to hold you guys over till Monday

This might sound strange, but I sold the Gruppe M intake yesterday and put the stock box back in. The car seems to pull a LOT smoother and stronger, even though it sounded a million times better with the intake. Anyone else experience this?

Definitely. Everytime I pull mine off to clean the filter I notice the stock intake feels much better. That sound though.....

The stock intake isn't a slouch. IMO, it makes more power than the GruppeM at low-mid range and the GruppeM is better up top.

Picked up a set of Bridgestone s04's yesterday after debating between a few others. Nothing better than a set of fresh tires.
