That strut brace will look good under the hood, Stathi. Nice acquisition.

Soooooo this is still sitting in my garage

I need to install it. I just hate the fact that something was so expensive when new, and you have to mod the positive terminal and hood switch all around and take a little while and effort to go on. Should be easier than that....

Well I guess I will go out and do it now

Thinking about getting one too, post your impressions after installation!

Havent installed it yet, but I recommend getting an M3 bar. It may be cheaper and it is easy to install. Looks clean too

Okay, I am installing it. I removed the three nuts on each side, and put the bar over it and it is not aligned....I need to force the bar onto it

Should it be like this???

Like.........wut?

You may need to fudge it a bit, as your strut towers are most likely slightly bent.

Would lifting the front of the car, getting the weight off the struts, be enough to make it line up?

Mine lined up ok. No forcing.

Are you sure you're getting enough clearance by the positive battery terminal?

Soo I got it on....needed some force though. I lifted up from the middle of the bar to get thebar to come down on the bolts.

I have the entire terminal off, put the bar, then dealing with the terminal...

I will post pics in a few....

Good work. Let me know how many F-bombs you drop modifying the terminal, lol.

Soo far I am very unimpressed with this mod. I feel like it was something I woulda picked up for free. The install is terrible. I modified the terminal and hood switch EXACTLY as it shows and now the hood switch does not sit right, my car doesnt recognize the alarm and it is just very unprofessional. And now I moeified everything so even if I wanted to remove it I have to get new brackets......

Ugh sorry for the rant guys. Does the alarm have to be reprogrammed again because the wire had to be cut??

Sorry for the frustration, Stathi. I don't have the alarm so I didn't have to deal with that aspect of it.

Thanks Keith

I hear ya. Well im gonna make an appointment with an indy this week to figure out the deal with my clutch, and I will see what they say about the alarm. As of now, it doesnt recognize the hood closing so I have no alarm......

As a short term fix, you can try keeping the button depressed by wrapping it with a wide zip tie or maybe some electrical tape. That'll at least trick the computer into thinking the hood is properly shut.

Not the prettiest fix, but it'll serve as a band-aid until you get into the indy.

Yep-- that would be the hood switch that is now zip-tied down out of the way in the hollow well at the passenger rear of the engine bay :rofl

Since I wasn't planning on ever having an alarm, I wasn't going to go through the steps of cutting and splicing the wire back up, so I just decided to get it out of the way.

Maybe one of the butt-joint connectors isn't seated all the way?

I'm sure you checked it already-- just cyber-thinking out loud.

Sorry to hear about your problems Stathi but thanks for posting. I've debated about getting one or not because of the modifications required, and even made an offer on one today. Might have to rethink this purchase.

I have the ecstuning cf strut bar. Its not as sexy as the BMWP one, but its about a 2 minute install...just as an added option.

You should mail me the strut bar :) All your worries about modding other parts to make it fit will go away.

You should have spent the money on swaybars. :)
As for the alarm, no. It's stored in the car/key memory.
