Spence, it didn't bore me at all. Thanks for sharing. And you know that it doesn't matter if you have a ZHP. An appreciation for BMWs is the only requirement for this site.

Thanks for being here. And thanks for the great write up.

Nice job Spence. Love the progression, attention to detail, and capturing it in this thread... just read from start to finish.

Really appreciate the pic of the BMW sunshade... been waffling on buying one because I didn't think the coverage would be much better on the inside from other shades.

Get crackin', Spence!

Really considering the performance brake kit like yours. I'm hesitant if they'll fit behind my 17" style 44's. I've seen they work with style 68's. Wonder if the wheels differ by much?

The other thing is if my stock 325 brake booster is up to the task??

My fault...misread as "I see they work with style 68s." Assuming you were referring to BPs car.

az3579
01-31-2012, 04:06 AM
Spence,
The kit is designed to work as a bolt in. The brake booster and master cylinder will handle it just fine. The brake bias also stays around the same as that's it was designed to do. The ease of install is probably the #1 reason why this is the most cost effective BBK for our cars.

The calipers will most definitely fit Style 68's. I don't think it'll fit your 44's mainly because the spokes don't curve outward enough, but don't quote me on this as I don't have 44's and can't really tell. If you plan on going to the reunion, I'd be glad to try your wheels on to test...

Thanks BP. Yes, I'd hate to pick up the set, install them, then have the car unable to move because the wheels don't fit anymore!

Hey - quick one for you. was this the cable you used?

You're hell bent on keeping those 44's aren't you?

You're hell bent on keeping those 44's aren't you?

No, actually I'm not. Ideally I'd love to pick up a set of Apex ARC-8's, but I'd rather pick up the brakes first because as BP said, the ECS deal won't be around for very long. Just a matter of cash flow and which is of greater priority--wheels or brakes.

I wouldn't mind a set of 68's either, but I just bought Pilot Super Sports for these 44's. I'd hate to have to unmount and remount them! That, and if I wanted to keep these tires, I'd need a square set of 68's. sigh.....

az3579

You could just buy the brakes and worry about the wheels later...

did you have to do any of this work on the cable?

http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1505990

or simply solder 7&8, install drivers, and INPA/NCS worked?

az3579
01-31-2012, 12:21 PM
The only thing you need to do is solder the pins and install the driver, ensuring the COM settings are correct.
