I picked up a set from ebay. I am impressed, so far. Good enough light output to clearly see in the daytime. MUCH better than the wedge style LED bulbs I've tried in the past. Here's a vid I took just a few minutes ago if anyone is interested:

The installation is just like regular side markers. The connector just goes into where the bulb would go. I didn't try to get the bulb holder back into the new side marker housing. Hopefully condensation won't be an issue. If it is, I may just silicon the opening instead of trying to get the lead wire to fit in there.

Excuse the peeling clear coat on the driver's side... :ducking

Link to the listing I purchased from: http://www.ebay.com/itm/400981861600

I'm trying out some other LED products as well, including DRLs, turn signal bulbs, and fog lights. Once I get those installed and test them, I'll make a post for you guys showing the difference.

I like the output, but I'd be worried about the seals. I've had Depo sidemarkers before and the seals were all cracked and chunked less than a year later.
Let us know how the seals are after a while!

And this does not trigger any 'bulb out' warnings?

And this does not trigger any 'bulb out' warnings?

The sidemarkers are not monitored by the CANBUS system.

Nope, no fast blink either.

I ordered some LED front turn signal bulbs, DRL bulbs, and fog bulbs. I'll post pics once they are in. The turn signal bulbs supposedly have built in resistance to keep the CANBUS happy.

Would be great if you could share the link to the front turn signal LED bulbs. I went clear corners last year and never bothered to change out the bulbs with amber ones. I suppose the front bulbs would also be compatible with the rear turn signals? Thanks!

Go stealth bulbs (no egg yolk look). You can buy them or DIY.

Got a link to a LED version? I looked at the Bimmian non-LED version and they were crazy expensive.

Or you can simply replace them with LED ones, which is what I have. With LED lights in your side markers, they stay dimly lit when the car is running.... sort of like running lights. I think they look pretty cool that way :thumbsup

You can just look on eBay for the bulbs you need. For mine, I searched for "25W CREE LED CANBUS 1156" since my bulbs are 1156 socket.

He's talking about the turn signal bulbs, not the sidemarkers.

Thanks for the info guys. Question - 25W versus 50W, apart from difference in brightness, if I go with the 50W LED bulbs, do I run the risk of blowing a fuse or causing any other electrical issues? What is the wattage rating for the OEM 1156/7506 halogen bulbs?

I've had a set of those for a while now- year and a half maybe? Still look like they did the day I installed them.

Finally got my LED fogs installed. Comparison pics below. I also got my DRL CANBUS error to go away using some inexpensive resistor packs. I ordered new license plate lens covers and a dozen 42mm festoon LEDs. Good bye halogen bulbs!
