Mine will fold in, but you have to do it by hand. It takes a pretty good bit of pressure to get them past the detent, though.

They fold toward the back of the car; if it has power folding, the button would be next to the switch to select left or right mirror:

It may help to lift them a little bit as you push them in.

So the ones with the lil bumpies on the top fold up, and the ones w/o fold in.

This is a European "option".

You can usually find the module on www.eBay.co.uk:

There are some DIY's on the install:

I wondered why a BMW didn't have fold back side mirrors, lol. Now I know they (at least my version) twist up. Always learning something new! John

Thanks for posting. I'm a little confused about the fact that he is talking about a pre-face lift earlier model... do our cars come pre-wired for this, but it's just that the switch module is not in place, or would we have to run the wiring, etc?

It looks like reading through the whole thread that the post-facelift cars should only require the dash control unit, bulbs in the lights, and it looks like some ECU coding issue. The last part didn't really get resolved in the thread and I am not sure if it's something the dealer would/could do. I was also wondering how the Euro control units allow for manual adjustment of the headlights (the numbered wheel) and our cars with the auto leveling function would interact, or if the auto function replaced the manual adjustment. All the control units that I saw on the UK ebay with auto on headlight were running ~$200 US, yikes! It would really be cool if this was an easy mod....

$200 US? I'll pass. Thanks for the more detailed info. John
