So my plan fell through with picking up an Evo so now I'm in the market for an E46 M3.

Must have:
- Mainly looking for late models
- Clean history
- Under 100k miles (Will consider higher mileage cars)
- Coupes ONLY
- Highly interested in IMOLA RED, Jet/Carbon Black, White, Interlagos Blue or Silver Grey.
- Pretty decent maintenance records
- Minor mods are ok

Looking to spend $20k or less. PM me with what you have.

That sound is intoxicating. I drove an SMG with the CSL tune and I must say, it's not bad at all. I actually liked it a lot.

I'm looking into a pretty clean 2003.5 6speed coupe. Anything in particular I should look for on this year?

Rear subframe cracks. Definitely MUST do a PPI, by someone who knows the car inside & out.

Rear subframe inspection and valve adjustments are crucial. I'd just make sure that routine maintenance was performed in a timely manner and included everything suggested. After that you dive into vanos, bushings, and other more common stuff.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I have a PPI scheduled for Friday.

From speaking with the current owner, he sounds super meticulous about keeping the cars maintenance on point and he works at a performance shop. The only cosmetic downside so far is the rearview mirror is leaking and needs to be replaced.

In the grand scheme of things as I'm sure you realize, that's minor if its been meticulously maintained.

I'm hoping the PPI comes back with no issues, I can deal with replacing a mirror. From the videos of the exterior and engine, everything looks and sounds good so far. Still waiting on the undercarriage pics.

I think 2003's had the bearing recall issue. My mirror is bad also, no big deal.

Rearview mirror can be fixed for $99, 1-day turnaround.. radar-mirror.com. He does excellent work. If you wind up haggling for the car, as a closing condition, get the current owner to get it fixed before you pick it up.

Long story short, I was set on picking up an 04 CB/Cinn coupe, 62k miles, 6speed, 1 owner and completely stock today. The funds were in line and I caught a bus to go to South Florida (3 hour trip) and right before I went to the guys house to pick up the car, he called me saying that he decided not to sell the car again. Definitely disappointed because everything on that car was perfect but the hunt continues!

Damn. I would use it as a lesson...ask future seller's if they have gotten or picked out their next vehicle (if applicable). Might help if someone has already gotten a car or figured out what they want, this guy sounds like he just put it up to see what would happen...

Well I was in touch with him for at least a few days before I made the trip down and he said everything was good to go. He said he was selling it because he has two kids and getting them in the back seat didn't really work out too well. Then today, he said his wife didn't want to sell the car right now or something.

What do you guys think of this one? It's local as well

I personally wouldn't buy a repainted car. I would check the vin to see if it was originally LSB. Love the color combo though.

My thoughts exactly but after speaking it over with a couple buddies I was putting more consideration into it. The price I was offered the car for is a pretty good deal.

Multi Rib Belt
ACC Cabin Filter
Fuel Filter
Spark Plugs
10W60 TWS Oil Change
Oil Filter
Coolant
Brake Fluid
Diff Fluid
Transmission Fluid

Current Needs:

Rear view mirror ( will have this replaced soon )
Small ding on passenger rear wheel well ( visible in pictures )

Accident History:

Front right corner was damaged during previous ownership. The passenger fender was replaced along with the hood. The front end was then blended to ensure top notch work. This was serviced in Washington.

Notes:

The car has some type of remote start / alarm system but I do not have the remote. I think he has it somewhere at his house. The car is a pleasure to drive and I actually enjoy the SMG more than my 6 speed m3. Reason being is mine has a solid drive shaft and bushings all around. The car has been on a few long road trips and performed like a champ. The paint is very clean and it is ready for a new owner.

More details and where did you find that beauty

Its a 1 owner car that I found in Daytona FL which is just an hour north of me. The car is stock with the exception of the UUC SSK and perforated leather steering wheel. Other than that it's a 2003.5 w/ 146k very well maintained miles and every record since new. I'll post some pics later tonight when I get in but you absolutely can not tell it has high miles.

When I was shopping around, I was looking to stay under 100k but when I saw this car and the way the previous owner took care of it, I knew it was the one. Always garage kept so the paint looks new, always detailed by hand, oil changes every 5k miles, and not a single rattle. He had this one for sale because he picked up a 2011 Competition E90 M3 in Melbourne Red. Funny thing is, the E46 stayed in the garage for the last 6 months while the E90 was outside.

Congrats Jon!! :thumbsup
