So I ordered myself a Sparco Evo GRP seat for the zhp. I wasn't planning on purchasing a harness yet since my car isn't strictly track but I came across a really good deal. I was wondering if I could use the quick fit harness with that seat? It should be only slightly lower than the stock seat so I would imagine it should work fine but I'm sure there's more to it than that. One option is to have a detachable harness bar made so I can run a harness at the track. I plan on doing a few HPDEs this year but one thing is still not clear to me. Do both front seats have to be the same or is it just regarding the restraint system? I'd like to not have to buy another seat just so I can drive with an instructor. Thanks guys!

Depends on the group you run with. Restraints and seats have to be the same on both sides for BMW CCA events.

Hmm I was hoping just the restraint would have to be the same. The Bmwcca website isn't very clear

If it isn't on the website, it's definitely in the Event notes they send you when you sign up for a particular event.

Here's an excerpt from the pre-tech inspection form that one of my chapters requires you to have done before going to the event:

I accidentally cut off the Seat Belt section and don't feel like re-doing the screenshot, so it reads like this:
"Seatbelts – Securely mounted. Webbing in goodcondition. Belt latches function correctly. Driver and
passenger seatbelts are the same."

Thanks for the help! I was hoping I wouldn't have to but it seems like I have a bit more saving to do...at least I can autoX with no problems until then.

Clubs here by me don't require same seat type for passenger and driver or restraints for that matter.

I would use a quick-fit with a Bucket seat. It will definitely be safer than the stock seat.

Awesome! So there is hope. Do you run a quick fit or just the regular belt? I was meaning to ask you this since we talked on Facebook about your seat setup :biggrin

I run a regular belt because I got rid of the quick fit when I bought the recaro. I plan to buy another quickfit pro eventually as I am reaching the point where stock seatbelts arent holding me during heavy braking.

but regulations all depend on your club rules.

FYI Northstar Motorsports and iND both told me the quick fits on aftermarket seats are fine to run safety wise. When I ran up at Road America the techs/instructors also told me it was a smart inexpensive set up I had.

The stocks are comfortable so you might as well drag it out as long as you can before the aftermarket seats become a necessity. That's what I would do at least.
