I'm going to get some A/S tires for my winter setup. No deep snow driving, so I don't really need dedicated winter tires. People seem to be happy with the Conti DWS06's, and I had their predecessor on my old e30.

I want a square setup, and I have a set of Style 47 17"s (offset 47mm, ironically) that I'm going to test-fit on my ZHP if the rain lets up this weekend. The two closest sizes to the stock 18" are either 225/45-17 OR 235/45-17.

The original 18" tire sizes 225/45-18 - Circumference 78.8, Width 8.9, and 255/35-17 - Circ 78.6, Width 10

The 225/45-17s are Circ. 78.4, Width 8.9, and the 235/45-R17s are Circ 79.5, Width 9.3.

Which would you choose? The 235s are a little wider, but I wonder if they'll rub in the front.

Which size would you go with?
