Hey guys,

I've been stalking this forum for a little bit and decided to join today. Seems like a great community. I'm a Charlotte resident and I've been without a sports car for a couple years and looking to get back in one. On that note, does anyone know this car?

Thoughts?

Thanks!

With respect to the car you posted, it’s difficult to say how much you can pay for it without knowing it’s maintenance history.

Welcome QC brother!

That car looks like it could either be a great find or ragged out, honestly. Have you reached out to the seller to find out how long they've had it? What service they've done? If they bought it as-is or added all of the Dinan stuff themselves?

A full Dinan package like that is not cheap at all, so if they added it, then it's a sign of an owner that wasn't afraid to throw money at the car when it needed maintenance.

Hah that’s the one I told you I wanted to contact the seller and see if they’d sell me the black grilles. It’s been for sale for several months. For that price, and bring for sale as long as it has, I think something is likely awry.

Thanks for the welcome! I talked to him today. He's a small dealer, so unsure of maintenance and he didn't add the Dinan mods. He swears the suspension is very tight, runs great, etc. I was hoping it was still for sale just due to the mileage. Gonna check it out tomorrow.

GL, sir. Car looks sharp. It even has a sound system upgrade. Maybe the high miles are scaring potential buyers. Please keep us posted.

If its looks to be in good shape, I'll probably pick it up for that price. I do all my own wrenching so maintenance items don't worry me. It will also be my 2nd vehicle so down time wouldn't be a big deal.

Welcome. Have someone who knows these cars check it out. Get a PPI (Angie’s list or bimmershops.com for reference).

Perfect! I also have a back up vehicle. Absolutely mandatory imo. Also,my opinion is these old BMWs only make sense if you do your own wrenching because they need plenty to keep them on the road. If you are the type that needs to hire a mechanic these cars will bleed you dry.

We purchased my wife a 5 speed 2001 325ci sport package back in 2006. We loved that car. Took it from 50k to 145k over a 8 year period. That car was hassle free. Trading it in on a E60 was the worst car decision we ever made.

Hello,

I just wanted to drop by and tell you guys that my ZHP has, so far, been the best car for the money I have ever owned. She has been problem free and is a blast to drive. We should have a CLT meet one of these days.

I didn't make it. Car wouldn't even attempt to crank. I think its the clutch switch, gonna try to bypass it once it warms up a little today.

You can code it out with PA Soft. I coded it out on mine so that I could use a clutch stop. I'm in uptown if you want to borrow my laptop/cord (or, if you can, bring the car by and I'll code it for you).

Well, i had already bypassed it the hard way before I saw this. No dice, i'm worried my starter is bad. Looks like a PITA to replace it.

Gonna jump it, but the battery seems fine.
