I'm now curious to see who is the youngest ZHP member that supports himself with no help from their parents or family and manages to own a ZHP along with everything else. Rent/mortage/food/gas/insurance/cellphone/clothes/diapers etc...

22, but I've owned my ZHP since 21. Never any support from anybody other than myself.

Absolutely proud of it. When I got my E30, I couldn't be more proud driving a BMW to school. 21-year-old BMW (at the time) but a BMW nonetheless, earned with my cash, nobody else's. I saw dudes driving around in Audi A4's and E36's that I know they didn't earn (they were given). Every single thing I did to that car, up to and including the engine swap, was 100% funded by my tax-paying azz. :)

21, got the 330ci at 20. It's no ZHP.

I could have bought a ZHP or e46 M3. But decided buying a house first was a smarter choice then spending an extra 10k on a depreciating asset.

and if I still lived at home with my parents I could have bought a brand new e90 m3

:(

I rival you, 20 w/ ZHP though the subsidized student loans are adding up and my job is proving insufficient but atleast I paid for the car in full when I got it. :)

Bought almost 3 years ago at 18 all on my own with the cash monies :) Saved up a very very long time, worked 90 hours at the restaurant in summers and about about 50 while I in high school, now I only do about 30 while I am at college, but that is in 2.5 days. My parents helped me with insurance the first year, but after that and any repairs I have done to the car are were all mine, this includes pricey repairs like diff mounts, and just recently the clutch. I have learned DIY is the best way though

I am proud of the fact that I have worked for it and it has been paid off since day 1. I cant take all the credit though, my parents do pay for my school, so :dunno

It's definitely not me, I'll tell you that. I'm 21 and was only able to afford this because of my parents' highly generous and kind decision to pay for my in-state college tuition and rent so I can focus on school. Took me a good 3 years of lotsa working to get it.

I still work my ass off at my job, though. I don't like accepting hand-outs too much from my parents, and I've been slowly getting them to stop asking to pay for certain things for me. Sounds weird, right? I like to be as independent as possible. It makes me feel good to say "This is my car" and not feel bad. I asked them not to pay for my insurance, too (though they said they would probably pay me the difference in insurance for driving one of their cars under their plan, which I guess I would be okay with too). I really want this thing to be my own and not someone else's.

Very nice! I drove a Porsche 924 in highschool. Bought it for 500 dollars with a blown head gasket and gunked up CIS(fuel system). Long story short the car saw 120 track hours, 4 trips to the west coast from oklahoma about a 1800 mile trip one way, 3 headgaskets , 1 rebuild, and 1 build. The car did not fail me once! even with a blown headgasket I always made it home. that is leaving a big white trail of smoke behind me :D

And I still have the car.

What can I tell from this thread? We have some highly responsible people here. Even when the parents helped make it happen, you can tell that the kids are mature and responsible nonetheless. The ZHP Mafia has some good peeps.

Bravo to all these success-stories in the making! It's encouraging to read things like this; I know the social stigma of "young driver / nice car... must be hand-me-down or gift" is one that's been earned fairly (it does trend true), but it's nice to be reminded that there are still people out there that defy the convention.

Ill be 24 this year, and haven't had the car long. Although, i had a slightly shitty circumstance in order to get the car...

http://www.michiganfireground.com/Fire/2010-Incidents/82910-Delhi-Twp-extrication/13546627_gr9MM#987232732_6Y3EP

I was the passenger, and very lucky to be here today, especially after seeing the car...
But im happy. and alive. AND driving a 2005 zhp :) that i LOVE. So no complaints. If you guys are interested, ill tell the story behind the pics.

Oh! and also starting a business with some of the money i inquired from the accident. very very very big things. Im very set on not being one of those idiots that comes into some money and blows it all on boos, bitches, and gambling. I'd say my head is in the right place.

haha yeah, it did earlier in the night anyway. yes there was beer in the car, but that wasn't opened. we had been drinking, but not in the car. only reason i was in the car in the first place was to try n get him NOT to drive.

No, Marcus. Being under 25 and male is FTL, in terms of insurance. It's expensive EVERYWHERE, and yet the teenage girls that chat on their phone and really don't know how to to drive properly get dirt cheap insurance. WTF.

If I was in your shoes, I would refuse to get in the car if the driver had been drinking. I'd rather walk or call a cab, because my life isn't worth gambling with. I've done this before; I have refused to get in a car with someone if they've even had only 2 beers. This is another reason why I drive 99% of the time; I don't want my life in someone else's hands.

25 here and still living with parents. . . Sad, I know. But school is a few minutes from the house. During the past few summers, was able to save a nice sum of money, from helping out with my parents business. Saved a part of it and bought the ZHP cash. Hopefully in a couple of years, I will finish school (Accounting) and get my own place.
