Well tonight i ordered a harmann style carbon fiber front lip for my car. I got it from a seller from georgia on ebay (felt more comfortable buying from someone in this country rather than from Taiwan ). it says it will fit the m-tech 2 bumper easily without modification so everyone cross your fingers on the fitment. im expecting it sometime after the 20th. i will post pics of the install and final fitment. ill keep everyone posted. Here are a few pics of it. let me know wat you all think.....

well i have bad news and good news. The bad news....i woke up to see that my order was refunded. the seller stated that he was about to ship the item and realized it was damaged so he refunded me the money i payed (sounds sketchy to me but owell). Good news.....i found another one from a seller in cali who has a store on ebay called benz-vs-bmw. Here is a link to the listing. The only think im scratching my head about is the compatabilty chart he includes becasue according to the picture is should fit any 3 series with the m-tech 2 front bumper but only sedans are included on the chart. Hopefully someone else can confirm this for me.

I would say that makes sense regarding only fitting sedans. The sedan bumper is not the same as the coupe.

i know there is a differance. the sedan has the black trim peice on the front of the bumper and mine does not but i figured that wouldnt affect the fitment of the lip because the 2 bumpers are identical on the bottm (from what i can see)

I believe the coupe is a little wider than the sedan, which also makes it so it's not universal.

Any update on if you got the lip or not? I'm debating about it

That looks alot like the CF lip for the M3 bumper. The Hamann original CF lip fits the M3 bumper only. I've tried to mount it to a M-tech 2 which it does not fit. The lip is to long.

I like the look of this one a lot, more than the one by Kerscher (see pic)

Deal, you're gonna owe me lunch. Go look at your bumper and compare it to mine. I agree the lights might be 4dr but the bumper is 2dr

I don't know if it's a coupe or a sedan but it does have the sidemarkers that belong on the sedan. If it's not a sedan, it should be. :biggrin

Hermes

I think this is what it is actually, a 2dr replica w/o reflectors for the 4dr.

yeah, he said this earlier in this thread:

Ahh, so wrong about the headlights. Not wrong about the sedan.

tripod06
10-15-2011, 02:26 PM
I'm arguing the following statement:

The headlamps are from an e46 sedan. That is undeniable. Look at the style of them. Unless major front end body work was done to fit in sedan headlights, I see that the front bumper is in fact from a coupe. So in which case the argument now stands that: is this car a sedan with a coupe front end? Or is this a coupe with a sedan front headlight retrofit/conversion?

Hermes
10-15-2011, 02:32 PM
yes I admit the car is a sedan as seen by the headlights and turn indicator but the bumper is the 2dr design. the issue you asked is if it will fit on your car and what i'm saying is it doesnt look like it will without changing your bumper

car is sedan, bumper is 2dr

This whole thing now is confusing me on if I should get it or not. Damn. I guess it's back to the drawing board.

And it wasn't denied that some work was done to that "car" coupe or sedan I guess the mystery will stand lol
