Almost pulled the trigger on the VMR-701s, 19s. Brand new, including the tires, $1800 total. Great price (retail at $2250). Not sure I can pull the trigger on 'em. What do you think?

PS: I should add that I don't have that kind of money laying around. lol. What we do for our cars! :)

I'd pick up some BBS CH wheels instead. :biggrin I think they are about the same price. Look into it. Wait. Just noticed those are 19s. Have to check on pricing for 19 inch CH.

BBS CH might be the perfect wheel for the ZHP other than the stocks. Anyone know the CH weight?

Voted but I always so no to black wheels (very predictable).

I'd get these in 18s:

They are a little more than you are looking to spend but who cares. It's your money I'm playing with. :rofl

Trust me Marcus, I LOVE those BBSs. (I also like the LMs, and the LMR-s. The reason I looked at these was the price because it also included the tires. And honestly, I've never REALLY been into black wheels on black cars, but I'd do it for the few that would work, including those BBSs. BTW, the LMs are like $5K! Great input so quickly so far, thanks!

EDIT: Wow, the price on those CH's is not bad at all! I'm not too happy about the weight though. I'd like something lighter, to help reduce unsprung weight thus performance. Maybe the next decision is those vs. Arc-8s.

I voted to pass because I've never thought black wheels on a black car looked right, mostly because the black of the tires looks crazy faded & gray next to the deep, pure black of the wheels & car. Now, those wheels in a gunmetal or silver, could be hot.

Black would mean not much contrast. It depends on what you're looking for; do you want an all black look or do you want your wheels to stand out?

Sorry, I beg to differ. :)

Correct. I have always thought that the BBS CH was one of the great bargains out there. A great looking wheel at a relatively sweet price. It's the one wheel that I would put on my ZHP. For the record, I've been thinking about it for about six months. I don't like the fact that it's still simmering on the back burner. Means I can see me buying these at some point. I don't want to spend money on new wheels!

But, yeah, if you spend $3000 -- you would have the BBS CH setup plus nice tires.

Frankly those aren't my favorite VMRs but the price is right and they would look good. I like them... I do like some of the other styles better like the 701 or the VB3... decisions, decisions.

Just buy for this great price then trade for the ones you like

Someone is always wanting to trade or just sit on them and resell on CL for 300 more

I had the same thought at one time. VMR CSL Black Even on a Hellrot I did not see enough there to convince me that it would have been the right choice.

I am glad i went with what I have on it now.

I will agree with some of the others that black wheels on a black car is too little contrast. Those silver VMR's are a fair price but keep in mind, any wheels (even your OEM ones) will look better with a drop.

I ALWAYS recommend a drop first, then wheels.

Looks like those wheels on Craigslist aren't for sale anymore. Moderators, how do I close a poll? Thanks for all the input, advice and perspectives. The search continues, and I'll keep you posted (with a poll of course) :)

I have been fighting myself on pulling the trigger on these wheels...
http://www.dubzdirect.com/wp-content/uploads/wpsc/product_images/Forg-light4.jpg

Super lightweight one piece forged aluminum...retail on them is over $6000 for the two tone and $5800 for monotone. I can get a hell of a deal on them though...but I just don't want to spend that much money when I'm trying to buy a shell for a race car too! I'm thinking VMR's as well. I'm wondering why those were $2200 with tires? I've gotten VMR's priced for under $2000 for 19's with Continental tires.

Speed, those are SWEET! It's tough not pulling the trigger on them, isn't it? :)

I think that black on black is a little overkill. I like a little contrast. Maybe a silver or gunmetal finish?

I've never tried it, but it's my understanding that they do not fit. Different sizes.

Thanks, Eli.

Nothing wrong with rockin BBS centercaps on a BMW

Marcus-SanDiego
06-18-2011, 09:51 AM
I think Eli was saying that BBS center caps are bigger than BMW center caps.

The only time I think it's funky to put BBS caps on another wheel is when the wheels are not BBS. I see quite a few people put BBS caps on replicas.

mimalmo
06-18-2011, 12:16 PM
Actually, I was stating my preference. I mean if you have BBS wheels the centercaps are classy enough that they should be on there.

Ahh, we were talking about them fitting, so I thought you were saying that BBS caps were greater (bigger) than BMW caps.

For the record, if I have BBS wheels, I leave BBS caps on them.

I really like the 135s. But I bet they would have looked very good. 19x9.5 in the rear (32ET) and 19x8.5 in the front (ET32).
