View Full Version : Pads for performance brakes?

Hey all,

After getting my ZHP today, it's time to address the rear brake pads. They are almost gone. I have the performance rotors that are drilled and was wondering what pads you guys are running? I don't track the car but would like something that performs better than street pads.

Thanks!

Just get a good ceramic pad...PBR Ultimate or likewise.

Ok. This may seem stupid but PBR ultimate pads are only $40...is there a difference between those and the Hawk ceramic pads which are $80?

Man, if it were me, I'd stick with stock pads to get the most life out of those performance rotors.. You can't find those rotors anymore! :(

Do you have a link to the stock pads at a good price?

I am however interested in possibly tracking my car in the future. So a pad that is ok for some track use but mostly daily driving with low dust and without too much noise would be ideal.

So I can't get anymore BMW performance rotors anywhere? :(

Yes....the rotors are sold out.

Thanks Dane.

After doing an hour or so of reading here. I am leaning towards ceramic pads over stock. For the reduced dust and better performance.

First choice is probably hawk hps pads from what I've read. Good choice for the performance rotors?

I concur with your decision.

PBR deluxe pads are great pads :D

I was also looking at the PBR ceramic pads. I don't know a lot about brakes so the 1,000,000 types of brake pads are so confusing haha. So many options.

I've heard good things about;
-PBR
-Hawk

and a few others but is there really that big of a difference between ceramic and regular? Such as between the Hawk HPS/Hawk Ceramic and PBR deluxe/PBR ceramic?

hawks are awesome. great bite, but they squeak.
stoptech pads are great but they leave a lot of dust.
pbr deluxe don't have as great of a bite as hawk or stoptech, but way less dust.

So on most pads it really comes down to what can you deal with the most.

ok I can deal with a little less bite since they are the rear brakes. Less dust is definitely a plus! Do ceramic pads tend to make more noise than regular pads?

you should be fine with ceramic PBR deluxe pads.

Neither should make noise.

Neither should make noise.

Hmm ok cause my current brakes do make noise. It might be the pads being almost gone. Not sure though. Hopefully new pads will fix it.

If a pad were designed to make noise...would that seem odd to you? I have had three sets of pads on my ride....all different brands.....no noise.

Just sayin.....

Haha yeah that wouldn't sell too well. I meant like is there something else that could be responsible for brake noise. Excuse my stupidity I know nothing about brakes haha
