The rule of thumb is that your forum can't be taken seriously until you hit a half million posts.

Well, you can't get to 500,000 posts without first hitting 75,000, which we did about two minutes ago. HokieZHP was the person who got us there.

Onward and upward.

Win. Good stuff! I read your post as 750k not 75. Was confused at first lol.

Yeah, 750,000 would be some feat. We're just a tenth of the way there to that milestone.

I will say that I've been quite pleased with the quality of the first 75,000 posts on this forum.

Thanks, guys/girls.

Woo hoo! Nicely done guys and girls. Let's see if we can hit 100k by Bimmerfest East. :biggrin

It should take about 1 month and 23 days to reach 100,000 posts. Therefore, we will miss that event -- by about 13 days.

^That's at linear activity? Our activity is more hyperbolic, no?

Marcus-SanDiego
06-27-2011, 07:33 AM
No.

From 50,000 to 75,000 it took 2 months and 4 days.

My prediction is that we will shave 11 days off the next milestone.

Let's get going boys and girls.

:biggrin

Oh... and... quality over quantity.

EDIT: Wow. I just noticed both of you (Marcus and Dane) have almost reached 10,000 posts.

So.....that number was based on a non-linear prediction. ok.

John, what do you mean?

I think he's referencing when we had that SNAFU where the off-topic and admin posts got figured into the total.

Marcus-SanDiego
06-27-2011, 02:19 PM
Oh. Could be.

I will explain how it works.

The amount of posts -- at the bottom of the site -- serves as the master number. Even if you post in a forum where a post does not count toward your post count -- it does count toward the master calculation.

Likewise, if I delete a post, it takes away from the master number. So, even though we had that snafu, where all of our post counts went up, they were already part of the master number.

So, the master number is correct.

W00t! We are moving along like crazy! I feel kinda insignificant with my personal post count being less that 1,000 next to Dane and Marcus' 10,000.

Posting to see my post count :shifty

75K is pretty impressive for what was once a small group of people...I remember when it was just 300 of us ;)

LMAO...I need to make that thread...I'm only a few hundred members late! It also needs a frame!

Well, for the record, I made quite a few posts with my admin before I ever launched this site. What's more, Dane and I also discuss site administration issues with moderators in the moderator forum (not available to non moderators). So, we have quite a few posts because of that.

Understood. Still an impressive number, though.

Yup, I was not referring to the master count.

John, what were you referring to?

johnrando
06-27-2011, 06:37 PM
I thought you had said that some of post counts for individuals were incorrect due to a snafu earlier on where posts were counted multiple times on an individual poster's total, but only those posts in certain threads. Did I not remember that correctly?

Marcus-SanDiego
06-27-2011, 06:39 PM
Nope. You might be thinking of the time when I moved a bunch of people into a new forum -- and thought they were not going to count toward post total. However, because I did not change the settings, they did count (and added to everyone's post count). That's the biggest gaffe I've made since running the site. Haha.

Closing in on 500 posts after only being a member since May 1st, the day I bought my ZHP. I don't think I've gotten to 500 this fast on any other forum. (bf.c, e46fanatics, bimmerpost, etc.) A great group of guys here.

Agree. A place where you feel as though you can be open and just enjoy yourself.
