View Full Version : Why won't these darned BMW floor mats STICK?

I recently inherited some all-weather BMW mats from a friend who was leasing a 335i. He gave them to me and they fit perfectly in the ZHP, but I have a huge gripe.

The darned things keep sliding little by little every time you get in/out of the car. Eventually, after about 10 entries/exits, the driver's side mat rides up on the throttle and it gets really annoying to press the pedal.

I still have the OEM floor mats with the velcro on the bottom, but they're all ripping out and I can't use the carpet mats in the winter.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I could make these awesome mats STICK and stay in one place?

I have those BMW all-weather mats in my 335. They are anchored to the floor by plastic hooks. They come with the new mats.

by far one of my biggest pet peeves about these cars.. my summer mats don't even stay in place with the velcro tabs.. but the all seasons have absolutely nothing to secure them anywhere... my integra has a little 'hook' and a hole in the floormat that keeps it from moving anywhere.. is only our e46's came with one....

I've got the all weather mats from Bav Auto and they don't move around at all. :dunno:

335 mats don't use hooks... Marcus, you have a 335 right? Do yours have hooks?

My stock mats did not have the hooks. However, the all-weather mats, which do not come with our cars, do have the hooks. I now have the all-weather mats with hooks.

They come with hooks, but I can't seem to find that part individually. I think these would substitute fine, they would just mount from the top as opposed to the bottom.

I thought I'd get everyone a picture of my hooks. Both top and bottom.

They are made by Mac Neil Automotive Products. They're called MatGrip III.

This is how they look when they're in the car (not my car):

I couldn't find the all weather hook P/N on Real OEM; it just showed what I posted...

What he needs is above...

Sweet! That MatGrip is exactly what I need. The mounting point for the hooks appear to be the same as where my velcro pads are currently mounted.
Where's the best place to get them? Price-wise?

I really have no idea. I had to search my but off to get the pic. Try that p/n, or the mat grip name....idk.

I think the dealer sells them for $25. Something like that. Crazy, eh?

I'll try the dealer tomorrow, otherwise I'll order them from online somewhere if I can find them.

Thanks for the all the help!

You are welcome, sir. And be sure to report back on the price the dealer is asking. I "heard" around $25. I've never priced them myself.

Will do, though I get a 15% BMW CCA discount applied at my local dealer. :)

Well done guys!! Picked a set up at the dealer for $17.50 including CCA membership, came with both pass. and driver side!! Well, I should say ordered.. I'll let you know how they fit when they come in.

Rayzah, do you happen to know how much they were charging without discount?

I didn't have an opportunity to stop by the dealer. Will definitely get the pre-discount price for ya, Marcus.

I installed my BMW rubber mats with those same hooks just tonight. They are way better than the carpet ones I had, and mine no longer slips under the pedals!

Jeez, I've really been slacking. I was supposed to get those a few days ago...
Still haven't done it. Maybe I'm just too cheap to part ways with $20 for something like this... lol

wow, can't believe it took me so long to respond, sorry about that.. I do not know what the price was, but my discount is only 10-15 % depending on what/where applicable.

No worries. I figure they're $20-$25.

So I walked into the dealer at around 16:45 (15 minutes before close) and managed to score a great "deal", so I won't get into price. BUT, the bad news is that the floor mats I have are from an E90 and the holes that I'm supposed to hook them into are way off from where the E46 floor mat hook points are.

I don't know anybody who would want to trade me E46 mats for E90 mats... :(

I have the all weather mats for my Zhp and love them, the only gripe I have is that the rear mats don't have the grip clips on them. My allroad has something similar front and rear, I love how they stay in place.

I may never go back to my carpet mats again, the black all-weather mats just clean up like new!!!

So far I haven't had a problem with the rear all weather mats moving in my car.... but then neither of my kids feet touch the floor yet.:p

Wait till they're teenagers and all they wanna do is touch everything.

I have a handful of years before I have to deal with teenagers luckily. I seem to be mellowing out the older I get, so that's probably a good thing. For them too.

I agree it's a gripe, but with the way the rear frame is designed, the rear floormats never seem to disappear under the front seats.. not that I have many passengers to begin with though...
I do like the all weather mats.. but I used them into last spring and it seems they pick up dirt particles (or at least it shows more) wayy faster than the OEM floormats.
Sad note, I still haven't received my clips yet, and my mats are sliding around like crazy now that we've had about thirty feet of rain. Wikid pissah.
