I believe that they will all be similar and will all result in a small amount of additional HP that you won't notice anyway.

I think the real difference between the various brands will be sound and looks.

I chose the BMW Performance intake for the clean look and easy install.

How does the BMW Performance intake sound compared to a stock ZHP?

Little throatier when you get to 3k and above.

I'd say subtle but noticeable.

From what Ive read it seems like the aFe pro 5 R intake gives a better sound than the BMW Performance intake.

The aFe that was on my car when I bought it was louder than the BMW Performance intake I have now.

Marcus, was the aFe's sound deeper than the BMW intake or throatier?

Louder in every way. Deeper and throatier.

most Intake won't give you much HP at all if any. Our intakes already pull Cold Air from the grill. I decided to make my own CAI.

Cost me around $100 because i had to buy some paint since i was not having a chrome tube intake. ;)
I love the sound of it, and maybe it's a placebo affect, but i felt that it has a faster response and breathes better. :dunno:

for the aFe intake, is there a way to route cold air into the filter area? It seems like with it being open it would take in a lot of the hot engine-bay air.

I ended up swapping out my aFe intake (and selling it) so that I could get the BMW Performance intake. I did it for no other reason than it looks better than the aFe intake.

As soon as you start moving, that's a non factor. AFE or one of their dealers (can't remember) did a series of tests with engine compartment heat and intake temps. They found that if the car was sitting still, there was an increase in intake temps but as soon as you began moving, it didn't matter.

Check out the AFE intakes for the 135i & 335i; this is why they did the tests.

mimalmo-thanks for the info! Good to know.

BTW that dual filter setup looks mean!
