I bought my car last February and the PO had already modded the headers and exhaust. He had installed Ebay headers and a Magnaflow catback exhaust. I love the sound this produces but it is a little too loud. I have been pulled over 4 times within 5 months of owning the car for my "amplified exhaust".

I have been searching for options to keep the same rasp and sound but just quiet it down by about 25-30%. I spoke with one of my friends about it and we thought that adding 2 resonators (one on each pipe) and we thought that might do the trick. Has anyone done something similar to this or have any suggestions on what I can do to keep the sound but just make it quieter?

An additional magnaflow muffler in-line with the existing system should help quiet things down while keeping the sound pretty similar, I would think. You should be able to find a single dual-in, dual-out muffler that will fit under the car, essentially right below the driver.

try this: http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/shopexd.asp?zone=main&id=9038

this is a 14" long model, the 11" version might fit better, you'd have to measure:

Resonators will not help 25-30%.
