2003 325i bi-xenon - when the headlamp light control is set in the automatic position, occassionally the passenger side low beam headlamp goes out and the check control picto-gram illuminates confirming the event. It is random and the auto position is the only correlating factor. I haven't noticed this happening when the lamps are manually switched but I can't say it happens or it doesn't because my daughter is the primary driver and I seldom drive it at night.
I'm thinking the LSZ (light switch assembly) or its LCM sub-assembly. Thoughts?

Don't mess around with a sketchy switch. On an e46 forum I saw pictures of a 330i that burned down after the owner left the light switch in the automatic position and then turned the car off. Apparently the switch shorted some time later and started a fire. Fire was put out before the entire interior was consumed so it was verified that the headlight switch was the cause. Replacing the switch should be a very easy DIY - at least it was in my more recent e90.
