Where did you order from? The prices are pretty good

Oh, and post up a DIY for that cooling system. I think the forum (and possibly me) will need one eventually.

The one thing holding me back from getting the ecs kit is they don't have stewart pumps available, and the only place that has a kit is bimmerworld, and their's includes a new radiator. Anyone know where you can get a kit with good prices AND stewart pump? If i'm gonna change it, i might as well have it waranteed and better performance.

Tampa330i
12-14-2010, 10:29 AM
adb - It's from ECS. I won't be doing the cooling work myself, I know a private mechanic who'll be doing that. The rest I can do myself, I hope the headlights aren't too much of a pain to get out enough to reseal.

Turner has a kit. You can choose to upgrade to a Stewart pump if you wish.

Bah, same kit as bimmerworld. I don't want to swap the radiator, as its not cracked. Oh the agony..

Thanks for the tuner link. I have that bookmarked now so I can get that sometime next year! Is upgrading to the stewart pump necessary? I will if it is, just wondering... I am learning this as I go.

az3579
12-14-2010, 03:32 PM
I would upgrade to the Stewart pump just for the peace of mind and to reap the minor benefits it provides. I track, autocross, AND daily drive my car, so having reliable cooling components is a must.
For daily driving, I would just stick to the standard water pump with the composite or metal impellar. Avoid the plastic at all costs.

Stewart it is then. Thanks for the input!

Tampa, did you ever get the BMW intake? i want to know your opinion of the change in sound.

Tampa330i
12-22-2010, 06:49 PM
Yes, yes I did. I made a post on it somewhere... can't remember which section. Search for 'bmw performance intake'. It sounds slightly more 'open', very subtle change. It looks like it belongs in there.

No clamps they were easy install. I've spent way too much time doing stuff on boats. Just held in place and with the cordless screwed in the dead pedal and the centered on the pedals - drilled holes and bolted down with supplied machine screw. Look great. I nicked up a couple of the holes :( when the drill touched the new pedals as it broke thru on the brake pedal but you'll never notice unless you have your face down there.

ooh and they look great. :cool

Awesome! It's very easy to install, you will enjoy it. I need to pick up the matching oem strut bar as well - they both look perfect in there. I've been talking to Bill about his carbon fiber wrapping business, I'm considering getting the top or entire airbox carbon fibered. Possibly in a different color than black to make it stand out. It's the one part I have that I can fully swap out to send to him and still drive the car.

Just took a lunch break. The drive was pretty uneventful as I had hoped. At some point my engine light came on but it's off now so its all good. Evidently being 2300 feet above sea level confused it for a minute. By the time I got here and crashed, I had been awake for over 24 hours. Good times... Buying the car in Memphis only whet my appetite for a road trip and I appreciate David letting me invite myself and come hang out.

And the craft beer available here is top notch!

Made it back home. That was an incredible weekend. Asheville is one of the coolest places on the planet and the people are outstanding. Very glad I did that. I saw a black prefacelift e46 in mobile in the EB lane about 4pm today that had clear corners and CSL looking wheels with a stance that made me all tingly inside. That was the highlight of my trip back. Very good and uneventful.

Thanks again David for indulging me in my crazy spontaneity and for all the drinks and conversation.
