Guilty as charged- that was a little Jersey-Centric.

Just a little crazy- would be the first hurricane to hit NJ since 1903.

You VA folks see these things all the time. :biggrin

Yeah-- time for you to start planning to get out of there, Kyle.

Looking like some strong potential to hit you as a CAT 3 on Saturday.

Definitely no good.

While I'm running around today making preps for the command, when things come to mind....I may post them here.

With that said...aside from all of the generic preps, ensure...

1. You have full tank of gas. Pumps won't work without power.

2. Ensure you have cash, as cash registers and ATM's won't work without power. Many places will make cash work in an emergency.

Just got this from the state OEM conference:

For NJ-- Passage 70-100 miles offshore as a Cat 2.

Calling for 8-10" of rain and a 10-20' storm surge.

Think about what you would put in an "emergency kit" and put it in your car. You might need to leave or move abruptly.

Apparently I'm in Irene's path as well. Category 2 when it hits RI, CT, MA, and NH. Category 1 when it hits ME. They are expecting over 10 inches of rain from the coast to Canada.

Eh-- definitely not 100 off, but never made landfall. We had tropical storm force winds and some rain, that was it.

Irene has been slowly coming apart. It's now down to a cat. 2 and looks like it will pass over as a one. Still going to get mass amounts of rain and a little wind from it.

On a side note, my car is safely tucked under an empty rental house.

Sucked in a ton of dry air into the southwest quadrant.

Weakened it nicely. Still a huge storm, though. Be careful.

Prepared for the hurricane today...light sources, water, food, ice, batteries, gas.

99.9% sure power will be knocked out.

Pretty worried about the ZHP though. Our area has many old tall trees that may come down...hoping for the best.
