Great idea for a thread. You start first, cuz I'll show you mine if you show me yours. lol

I'll have to take a more close up picture, but here's a start. (This was before my aluminum pedals).

Yup, Coby Wheel. A guy at M3forums did the shift knob. I think Mike at CW was talking about eventually doing shift knobs too.

The brake handle is from BMW but I don't see it listed at Realoem anymore. It came on the CSL and Comp Package M3. I see Leatherz still has it listed though....

Depends on where the car was purchased. I dont see anyone from Florida needing heated seats, for example.

I've seen lots of BMWs without heated seats.

Sure! Any specific area you'd like to see? The console is/has non-NAV business CD, smoker's package, sunglasses case, multi-button (DSC, heated seats, hill descent assist), auto/step trim, cupholders, oddiments tray, coin holder, rear ashtray, and no armrest.

That photo was taken by the PO and downloaded from the eBay ad when I bought the car. I liked the way the interior looks in that picture.

It looks different because you have nav and he doesn't. On cars with nav, the climate control is put into the slot where the sunglasses holder is for non-nav equipped vehicles, effectively eliminating the sunglasses holder for nav-equipped cars. A nav-equipped car has a much busier center stack because of the lack of a plain cover for a sunglasses holder.

We both have ZHPs, but my center stack looks exactly the same as Bill's, because I don't have nav.

those are some nice nice interiors! question for those with the alcantara seats, are they much softer to sit on compared to the leather? the most comfortable seats i ever sat in were from an 07 civic ex coupe. sunk right in. i'd imagine cloth is much softer than the leather?

danewilson77

They are exponentially more comfortable than the leather. I moved from leather sport seats to these.

I don't like BMW Dakota leather much. I'd so rather have ///M Nappa Leather! It's so much softer and finer. I like the softness of BMW's pleather more than my leather that I condition and clean on a regular basis. Cloth is even software....how does alcantara wear on ZHP seats?

Let's just say it like this; when my alcantara wears down too much, I'm having my bolsters reupholstered in regular cloth.
I don't like how alcantara wears one bit.

gr330zhp
09-08-2011, 12:40 PM
Mine really isnt wearing a crazy amount. The way I have seen it, any sport seat will wear incredibly on the bolsters. My moms 2011 S4 has 7k miles on it, has been Leatheriqued twice already and it is showing wear already.

I sooooooooooooo wish BMW had done alcantara down the center and cloth or leather on the sides much like the B5 S4, much like below. I know quite a few people with that interior with even 140k miles and barely any wear on alcantara or leather

Only because they're blue. They actually look very good in person.
A friend of mine has a Pontiac Grand Prix GXP. About 60k miles on it. Also has the alcantara centers, and there's 0 wear on them.
I agree with the alcantara centers; that would have been a MUCH smarter move.

that kind of wear is probably from how you get out of the car. You kinda sit on the edge of the seat with your legs out and then push off. I sometimes do it without thinking but I usually catch myself and push off the door sill so it doesn't mess up my seat

llll1l1ll

even with that kind of wear, i mean who notices except the person driving (theoretically, you 99% of the time)? and it doesn't affect how comfortable it is...

so the alcantara wears somewhat poorly. still feels great. and it's pretty easy to maintain if you try worth a flip.

i may be somewhat biased (heh) but i don't miss leather one bit :)

I'm likin' the LED interior lights more and more every time I see it. Was thinking of starting off with the LED license plate lights as I'm still on the fence about those, and then moving up to the LED interior lights. Depending on how red it is, I wanted to get the red, but only if it's close to the stock amber interior light color.

Nope, they go in the normal light holder things. I only had to bend a few of the holders inwards more to hold the smaller LED's. Other then that, it was plug and play. No resistors.

if not, those who changed to LEDs, can you guys post direct links to products? (for each light location) - Thanks!

And to confirm, they fit in existing sockets and no electrical gremlins afterwards, right?

This is only on when I have my parking/headlights turned to on. It's tied in with the LEDs that light up the rear or the front ashtray so that it works with the dashboard dimmer. :) Ambient OEM amber lighting for the feet that don't shine ON TOP the feet since that would be distracting while driving.

I believe Coby doesn't do seats...
If you wanted those kinds of seats, you'd have to buy the material and have an upholstery shop reupholster your interior for you. Or, you can buy the OEM seat cover, though I don't know how much work is involved with that.

I don't like BMW Dakota leather much. I'd so rather have ///M Nappa Leather! It's so much softer and finer. I like the softness of BMW's pleather more than my leather that I condition and clean on a regular basis. Cloth is even software....how does alcantara wear on ZHP seats?

Alcantara is great, but personally I prefer leather. My alcantara interior is in pretty good condition, but I'll likely pick up some black Nappa Leather seats from an M3 sometime in the next year.

coby1
12-05-2011, 08:38 PM
yea the M-Texture Fabric is impossible to find(tried) but cost wise just for the regular Alcantara fabric and time that would be involved to do the the seats/shipping etc. would not be cost effective.

Gauges are a kit from LeatherZ but point is moot as IIRC it's NLA. You would have to make your own custom gauge pod

Here is a thread on install (in sunglass tray, but you can modify for ashtray like Kris did)

Hey JP...throw up the link to those mat anchors....so I don't have to look for it.

To be quite honest, now that I go back and look for them I don't see them listed on their own. They were one of the pics when I clicked on the floor mats.

Here is where I was: http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E46-330i-M54_3.0L/Interior/Floor_Mats/ES196751/

you can see them in the 4th pic, the only ones I saw listed specifically on their own were these (not the same):

http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E46-330Ci-M54_3.0L/Interior/Floor_Mats/ES2145335/

here are all the floor mats (carpet and rubber): http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E46-330i-M54_3.0L/Interior/Floor_Mats/

I would just call ECS and ask them what the deal is... 800-924-5172

My AW mats from Bavauto have the raised spot where you can punch through for the anchors, but my mats do not move at all.

Maybe a lil. I prolly just had that pushed forward a bit. I never really notice, so it can't be that bad.

Thanks!. I don't have the anchors.

The anchors are a must. Super cheap. If you go to the dealer and tell them you need the all weather anchors, they can magic them up for you.

I duuno though....are there actual holes in the "All Weathers"? Can't remember.....

There are holes in them. As someone already mentioned, they are raised so there is no problem.
My mats are E90 mats, and look exactly the same as the E46 mats. I had to punch my own holes in them because they didn't align up with the E46 anchor positions, but even then I still have no problem with "weather" getting on my carpet because the fit is very tight. The mat doesn't move a single millimeter.

Even on the leather? I thought that trick was for Alcantara only! I need to do that as mine's a bit shiny.

I wouldn't use it on leather seats. As DW has said before, the Magic Eraser is like a super fine sand paper that takes the top layer off of things. So, when you use it on a leather wheel.. you're taking the top layer of grease/leather off. I'd be skeptical to use it on a wheel. And if I ever did, I'd later on a lot of leather protectant/rejuvenator on afterwards. If you're looking for something to use on your seats, I'd recommend just doing some Leatherique.

Rovert

I used magic eraser years ago on this already shiny wheel. While it makes the shine go away my drying cloth does the same when it's damp and I just grip it around the wheel while turning. Both methods conclude with a shiny leather look after one drive. But my cloth method only takes 20 seconds to do. My wheel was born to be a shiny star?? LOL

The mirror is off a premium package 2007+ BMW. Mine particular is from a 2008 E90 with premium package. I know the E60 and E83LCI also have this mirror. The E60 ones changed when high-beam assistant came into picture and I don't know if they are compatible, wired-wise.

Good luck finding on! Took me awhile to find one under $200.

Yeah, I pretty casually watch eBay, but it hasn't been a high priority. It started because i wanted the homelink since my 2nd ZHP didn't have one, but the opener I've got wedged into my ash tray pretty well so I kind of stopped considering spending the money on the upgrade.

Where'd you get the first aid kit?

its like an adult baby seat. You are snug in there. i have a waist of 32 and I feel very snug. Friend with a waist of 38 doesnt fit at all. He cant even get inbetween the bolsters. The only issue is really getting out of the car since the bolsters are very high and gives very little room between the steering wheel.

That would be nice, but then I'd have to stuff the excess somewhere. That one in my car is only about 5" long. It just goes to the Garmin Bluetooth module mounted on the kick panel. It would look a lot better if I'd just remember to cut the red tag off of it one of these days. :-)

How do they stand up to constant removal and replacement, such as a weekly interior vacuum? I might do this if durable enough.
