there's 16 National Historic Landmarks in San Diego County so lets not have everybody out here go to the same place

Will give me a chance to work on my photography skills.

You still have a bunch of other places you can go

It's all good man. I probably am not going to enter. I am the kind of person who doesn't like the stifling restrictions of parameters....I tried, I was stifled, and now I have lost interest.

Best of luck to all entrants, I will cast my vote when the time comes.

I think Dane's rule about one entry means one conforming entry. Once you have a picture that meets the parameters of the contest, you're stuck with that picture.

Casey, your picture simply didn't conform with the parameters. Get one that does. Once you do, you're stuck with that picture, pal.

You have not been disqualified.

EDIT: just saw your post. It's all good.

Not trying to restrict anyone. Just trying to make it fun. Guess I'm failing.

Not at all failing. Despite this one being tougher to attain, I think it'll be fun trying to get the "right" shot.

I would like to see Casey's entry this month. As a matter of fact...I am looking forward to it.

Just took this on Friday with my phone... surprisingly didn't shoot anything of my car in front of the Capitol. If it doesn't fit, LMK and I'll go shoot something else.

You're making this difficult. :)
Nobody around me knows where I could find a landmark I could drive up to! I'm finding plenty online, but that's just not the same thing as finding one in person...

Melikes a challenge.

Sweet pic Hermes.

Casey Time Tip: Next time flip the wheels the other way though. Just a tip I learned from Casey. Wheel positioning is uber important. He told me that for one shot, he adjusted the wheels for thirteen hours to get them just perfect for the shot....then it rained...then he said efff it....and went and got a huge burger.

Hermes
09-18-2011, 10:01 AM
Thank you. As for the wheels, I kinda had my back end in the crosswalk so people kept thinking I was leaving. They would stop then end up in my picture instead of just a light trail. Basically when I got home and looked at them this was the one I liked

nice hermes

just a thought though for next time... think about the composition of the image a bit more. Stand up instead of going for the low level shot, you'd have seen more of the ship, also maybe shift a bit to the right to show more of the boat. Would have been really cool to see your car fitting right under the nose of the ship in the shot and maybe eliminating the stop light.

I drove to my secret spot for the contest and the sun disappeared, so I turned around.

I'll get it though.

thanks, i gotta go back some other time and try again. it was basically just so busy cause there was something going on that night at the Midway so there were no parking spots, I basically found one then waited until closer ones came up and moved so I could get a decent picture.

Also, literally a foot behind the camera is a busy road so I can't set up there. the spot next to me had a minivan in it so I couldnt get that angle. I need to go on a weeknight so I can get set up better. I just did it since there was only one pic in so far, couldn't just let it be a cake walk...

In the heart of Lexington, KY, the Henry Clay Estate: Ahsland. (http://www.henryclay.org/)

You can see the house in between the two trees in the center.
