maybe next to SPORT button? not my car, but from this thread (http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=835024)

The reason is im somewhat used to see the trunk release button on that area, like in my e53 and my current e70...

any DIY???

i did a quick search and came up with nothing
i would assume that it would consist simply of

-removing button

-add extra wire so the button reaches further (so cute the button wire then sodder more wire to it)

- before soddering the added wire to the button, take apart center console

- feed the wire under the carpet and under the center console

-fabricate a place to put the button, whether cutting a square hole next to sport button

-test fit,

-then sodder the added wire to the button (while button is already in place, next to sport button)

-then put it all back and find a way to cover the rectabgular hole where the trunk release button used to be (could use moldable plastic or something)

the hard part i think would be fitting the button next the the sport button, cutting a rectangular hole and making a bracket for the button

BTW does where the button sit now have a bracket that can be melted or attatched to fit behind the button bar, (next to the sport button)?

hope this helped or ignited some kind of idea

JReyes is correct, its a "German 330xi", the owner of that car did a lot of awesome mods on his car.... that thread is a "Must read"...

also, im with you on your concept/idea, i just wish its really that easy and no surprises.... only one way for me to find out...

Sorry, didn't notice the link. He says he did it himself...

"The Sport-Button is a thing which is developed by me, connected to a sprint-booster-module. If you enable the Sport-Button, the e-Gas is more responsive and aggressive, like a M3 Engine."

I really like how he painted/clear coated the rear diffuser

Yeah.....that guys got a lot of hours in that car. Very nicely done. Much respect.

e46 m3

E46 M3 never had that type of automatic shifter so it's not an ///M... but as far as I know the sport button only came with the ///M so this must have been retrofitted....very nicely done I might say...:thumbsup

I thought it was a German 330Xi? You gotta read the thread. Pretty impressive.

why do you want to do this? seems like it would be a lot of work for a pretty pointless mod. lots of better things to spend time on...just my .02

not 100% sure yet if its really a lot of work, so cant comment on that...

may seem pointless to you, but not for me or maybe others...

having 3 boys, i use the trunk most of the time, and im used to have that button on that area like my previous e53 and current e70...

From what I understand, the SPORT button does the same thing as moving the gear selector over to the left... without actually doing so.

This guy must be an engineer cause he has working paddle shifters too.

Paddle shifters aren't that hard to retrofit.. many people have done it.

I get that but if you read the thread he says he set his up so he only has to use the left one to both up/down-shift (pull/push) cause he likes driving with just his left hand on the wheel. I think he said the right one is opposite but works the same way

The paddle shifters I posted a picture of are from a step-tronic car. I believe paddle shifters were an option. These particular ones are the ones that came mostly (i think) on the pre-facelift e90/e92's. The facelift ones are back to the norm of: pulling towards you on each side. One side is downshift, and the other is upshift.

I think that the pre-facelift e90/e90 paddle shifters are the ones he retro-fitted. If so, they're made to be able to downshift & upshift on the same paddle.

I drove them before.. its quite annoying. I think one side should have its own function

Update, I contacted Hageee and told me this:

"I've registered me at ZHPMafia.com and waiting for activation."

I believe we can get lots of information from this guy, and he seems to be a nice person...

just read a little on how others have done it, seems you still need to buy a SMG wheel. I kinda like my perf. leather wheel, I'm not really a fan of the SMG/plain leather wheel even if it has the m stitching. I'm can't tell if Hageee has the SMG wheel but the paddles don't look right for an E46, looks like the newer ones, but then again I think I see the blue stitching so maybe it is. I also looked at my wheel and I could be wrong but it looks like there are holes in the back for where the paddles connect. Maybe you can retrofit the wheel too?
