I dont really care about interior condition much, its getting gutted.

Like the title says, coupe, manual. If it doesnt have a sunroof even better.

If you see anything over $4000 I will still look at it if its really special, cash in hand.

Would prefer less than 160k miles, if good maintence records though I will look at others.

I will travel to pick up the right deal.

oh and EXTRA POINTS for anythign that is Black or Hellrot! HAS TO BE BLACK,Red,White, OR SILVER

Thanks Guys

FWIW, I got an '02 325i for a relative last January for $7500. 66k miles.

While the E46 is no E30, it is built for the duration much more so than the E36.

I thought about E46s, but I am going to gut the whole thing and I dont think I can bring myself to rip an e46 apart quite yet. Plus I dont know if I am ready for the step in technology between the E36 and E46. For myself I think the e36 would be a good starting platform.

There is no point on looking on the CCA site, to be honest. Everyone on there overprices their cars, many times by a long shot.

I have both a ZHP and a 1995 325i e36 vert. Love them both for different reasons. I bought the e36 a little over a year ago for around $4,000 with 87,000 miles on the ticker. In retospect I think I could have got the guy down another 500 but I really wanted the damn thing, Anyway, the only thing that needed immediate attention was the thermostat. I, being a preventive maintenance nerd, did the following since I purchased--understand that most except the therm and condensor were preventative:

1. Three oil changes
2. Tranny fluid change
3. Rear Diff Fluid change
4. Thermostat
5. Water pump
6. Fan and fan clutch
7. Expansion tank
8. Beisan Vanos selas and anti rattle kits
9. Upper intake boot
10. Valave Cover Gasket and vanos gasket
11. Brakes and Rotors
12. Brake Fluid Flush and change
13. Upper and Lower Radiator hoses
14, Temp Sensor
15. Air conditionaing went at the beginning of the summer so I replaced the condensor and dryer.
16. Replaced the rear window.

In my opinion, you should be able to get an e36 fitting your specs for under $4,000. Look on Craigs List. When you go to look make sure you inquire about the cooling system and suspension. Also, get a PPI. Good luck.

You could look at 4 doors also. Adds a little extra driver protection, and chassis stiffness, having the 4 door b-pillar. The sunroof deletes can also be had for 250, if you cant find a non-roof car. I am just going to do the fiberglass bolt in sunroof delete. 95 and pre-95 cars will be OBD-1, making hot rodding easier, if you plan on engine mods. Should be some fun winter projects going on soon. Autotrader, craigs, ebay, forums. Keep on searching, you'll find what you want.

Autotader- 200 mile radius of us. Talk the more expensive ones down.

Im searching like crazy mang! except I was just blocked from craigs list! Gotta wait til I get back to the room.

Bob, I dont remember if I was telling about the man shed back in the woods at my house at the party? Well if I did, i made the decision this week that I am scrappy that idea and just building a bigger garage for wrenching fun!

I cant believe some people though, seriously! I have talked to like 4 people on craigslist today and I asked if they could email me better pictures and more info to my email. They respond with, I have pictures on craigslist! Well F U! Go sell your car to someone who doesnt care about anything then. Then they respond with, hey how come you are not responding? If you dont have time to give me some info, I dont have time to be interested in your car anymore, kthxbai.

LOL. Yes, motivated sellers. I go out of my way to supply pics, info, ect, when asked for. I usually want to sell what I advertise.

You have plenty of room for a bigger garage there, but the one you have will work just fine until that time comes. You gotta see my neighbors garage, its huge like a airplane hanger. He built it himself using a makeshift crane on a VW Quantum. I am pretty sure its the only Quantum I had ever seen, and it was a crane. I love Pennsylvania.

Yea, if the seller is not responding then move on. WHen I sold my e46 I took 50 HD pics and offered them to everyone. You need to feel comfortable and the seller should be forthcoming with the information. I would say ask for maintenance records but some of the older e36s have so many owners that the records get lost over the years. You sound like you know what to look for with these cars. Be patient, you will find what you are looking for. I really think you can find something around $3,500 with minimal work to do.

If you're "open" to 'verts, I have a 99 Estoril Blue M3 that I need to sell. I bought this car from San Antonio and the next week I was informed that funds didn't come through for my position (government job on base). 99 M3, 108k miles, 5 spd. $7800 (which is what I paid for it; not looking to make a profit). It's not perfect but it runs great and the mileage is low for a 99. I was going to wait to sell it next Spring but let me know if you're interested.

1995 BMW E36 325is Color is Boston Green exterior with tan leather interior. All maintenance records, all service performed by CR's BMW im Newville, PA. The motor was replaced 20k miles ago, along with clutch and all gaskets on the motor and many other parts. Starts, runs, and drives great, shifts very good. The car has all upgraded brakes with drilled and slotted rotors, K&N cold air intake with heat shield, Eibach pro lowering kit (springs and shocks), M3 Contour wheels with high performance tires, full ddm tinted light package with 6k HID kit, custom stero system with cd/dvd head unit, rear trunk spoiler. The body and paint is nice for the year, has minor dings and scratches nothing major. The interior has some wear but is not bad, power seats. Will need a head liner. Everything works as it should; heat, ac, etc...there's not 1 button that does not function correctly. Recently inspected, good until 4/12, this is a very quick and fun car that handles like a sports car and still gets an avg of 22mpg. I will include all stock parts including stock radio, lights, springs, stock wheels, etc... and I'm sure I'm forgetting some things but this car is nice and needs nothing. Price is $3,500, open to trades, cars, trucks, other bimmers, etc. Call or text 717-343-0479 Can send other pics to a thanks

Not your color, but looks like it's in great shape. 328is, $4500:

Another Boston Green one, great price (318i, you didn't specify what engine?):

Silver one, slightly higher mileage but WOW the car looks like it's been very well kept:

Brother, it seems you only just started looking. I'd take five (days, deep breaths, whatever) and hold out for something really good. It's not like every E36 is getting crushed at midnight tonight.

Even if it takes a month or 2, who cares? Get the best one out there. Presumably you're not car-less at the moment, correct? Or did you sell the E90 noted in your profile?

I haven't looked but I bet there are many good examples for sale on bimmerforums.

Oh I know man, ive been looking for awhile, just recently became very serious. I know what you mean though.

You'll find out I become very excited about things, but then I over analyze everything lol.

Ive probably looked at every post on bimmerforums through 20 pages, everything on sale on autotrader, a good bit on craigslist, and every other google search I can find. I research and analyze the crap out of everything, sometimes it sucks.

It took my 8 months of searching before I finally bought the e90 in my sig and yea I still have it. The e36 Im looking for wont even be a road car.. I just want to tear something apart and embark on a track experience, its been a dream forever

Why e36 tho? I'd much rather work on something that has the basic essentials and none of the electronic jazz to work around. Have you considered a 2002 or e21? What about an e9 that needs a little help? Good luck with the search, I'll post up some Craigslist finds in the Pittsburgh/Morgantown area if they're worth while.
